KKR Inks Agreement With Federal Land Commisioner - 13 Sites Supervised By PTP On Highway Areas
The Ministry of Works (KKR) has inked a lease agreement with the Ministry of Natural Resources, Environment and Climate Change on Thursday (April 13). This official deal involves 13 commercial and non-commercial sites supervised by the Federal Lands Commissioner (PTP) on highway areas, Bernama reported.
According to Minister of Natural Resources, Environment and Climate Change Nik Nazmi Nik Ahmad, he stated the recent agreement will be monitored by KKR through a cooperation between Projek Lintasan Kota Holdings Sdn Bhd (Prolintas) and IJM Corp Bhd.

Through this project, it could help to further develop and optimise the use of federal lands available into a way of generating a more emulous economic structure. The minister further added that the lease period will continue as long as the application of toll highways concession remains.
According to Section 221 of the National Land Code 1965, the rule aligns with PTP as a registered land owner that could lease its land for a maximum period of 99 years.
"The toll highway concession companies under the supervision of KKR and the Malaysian Highway Authority have an exclusive interest in regulating, optimising commercial development as well as managing the current regulations related to land or facilities built on it," he added.
Also present during the ceremony, Works Minister Datuk Seri Alexander Nanta Linggi said the lease enables users to receive efficient and high-quality services when using the highways.
Following that, he concludes the ministry will monitor land management procedures and issues on all 36 highways operating in the country such as Sungai Besi Expressway, New Pantai Expressway, Ampang-Kuala Lumpur Elevated Highway, Guthrie Corridor Expressway, Penang Bridge, Butterworth-Kulim Expressway, Damansara-Puchong Expressway, SPRINT Highway, Shah Alam Expressway, SMART Tunnel, Kuala Lumpur-Putrajaya Expressway and more.
As mentioned above, said highways are set to be involved in the state’s latest project which recently involves Duta-Ulu Kelang Expressway (DUKE) to also become part of the new open toll payment system project towards Multi Lane Free Flow (MLFF) that is expected to begin in September this year.
