Tritium Direct Current Fast Charging (DCFC) chargers would soon be available in Malaysia as the parent company Tritium DCFC Limited (Tritium) inks a partnership with KuroEV, a local player in the EV space with business interest in EV Charging and EV leasing programs.

When contacted by Caricarz, the spokesperson for KuroEV confirmed that their next EV charging station would be located in Gelang Patah, Johor, expected to be up and running by end 2023. This new facility would house the Tritium RTM75 DC Chargers.

When asked with regards to KuroEV’s nationwide roadmap, the firm confirmed that they are in the midst of identifying key EV charging locations across the country that includes offices, shopping malls, and commercial hubs.

The sole KuroEV’s charging station currently available is at One South mall, which hosts a Tritium RTM50 DC charger (2 x 50kw), one 30 kW DC charger, one 11 kW AC charger and one 7.4 kW AC charger. These chargers are accessible via the JomCharge App and are priced from RM0.60 per min for the DC chargers while AC chargers are from RM1.75 per 15 min.

According to Tritium CEO Jane Hunter, “We are excited to partner with KuroEV to bring Tritium’s world-leading charging technology to the Malaysian market and expanding our footprint in the Asia Pacific region.”

“Our fast chargers will provide reliable, high-quality charging solutions to EV drivers in Malaysia, and we look forward to supporting KuroEV in their efforts to create a comprehensive charging network across the country,” the CEO added.

Ken Too, KuroEV’s founder also said, “We are delighted to work with Tritium, a global leader in EV fast charging technology, to offer the latest fast charging solutions to our customers in Malaysia. With Tritium’s fast chargers, we can provide a seamless and reliable charging experience to EV drivers across the country, helping to accelerate the transition to a cleaner and more sustainable future.”

Furthermore, Ken Too also revealed KuroEV’s interest in creating its own charging network in the future, which would include solar, on-site energy storage, EV charging, cafes, and other premium services. Through this partnership with Tritium, the firm aims to establish a world-class charging network in Malaysia, in-line with the government's 2025 EV roadmap of building 10,000 public EV charging stations.
