MMM Achieves 27% Sales Growth in FY2022, Selling Over 24K Units

Mitsubishi Motors Malaysia (MMM), the official distributor of Mitsubishi vehicles in Malaysia closes its Financial Year 2022 (Apr 2022 to Mar 2023) in style, with a 27% increase of sales volume compared to the previous financial year performance.
In achieving this feat, the firm sold over 24,315 units of vehicles during that period, boosting its total market share of up to 3.2%. This, in turn, places the automaker as the third largest non-national car brand in terms of sales volume – the highest sales achievement ever recorded since its inception back in 2005.

As for the models, the Mitsubishi Xpander retains its title as the best-selling non-national MPV in Malaysia, achieving a sales growth of over 52.2% compared to previous financial year. With up to 13,794 units sold, the locally-assembled (CKD) Xpander contributes to over 57% of the firm’s overall total sales.

On the other hand, the marque’s second offering, the Mitsubishi Triton pick-up truck, has also achieved an increase in sales volume, with 12% more than in the previous financial year. As the second most popular pick-up truck model in the nation, the Triton makes up about 18% of pick-up trucks market share, selling over 10,520 units in Financial Year 2022 alone.
Commenting on this momentous achievement, MMM CEO Shinya Ikeda said, “The Triton and XPANDER have been a catalyst for our sales growth in FY22. In ending a successful financial year, we will continue to focus on improving customer purchase and service experience to meet the evolving needs of our customers, assuring a seamless experience.”

Aside from that, the MMM boss also revealed that the Mitsubishi XRT concept, which debuted at the 44th Bangkok International Motor Show (BIMS) 2023 will serve as a basis for the next-gen Triton model. In proving the new model’s reliability and performance, the marque also plans to retain its crown in the upcoming Asian Cross Country Rally 2023 (AXCR 2023) with Team Mitsubishi Ralliart, using a prototype cross-country model of the next-gen Triton.

“For the upcoming Asia Cross Country Rally 2023, Team Mitsubishi Ralliart plans to compete with a prototype cross-country model of the all-new Triton in its quest for a second straight victory. Our participation in rallies will be reflected not only in new Triton models but also across a broad range of Mitsubishi vehicles,” the CEO added.
