Perodua Expects Leaking Oil Filter Issue Will Be Resolved By Mid-2023

Perodua Otomobil Kedua Sdn Bhd (Perodua) expects the vendor-related leaking oil filter issue to be resolved by the middle of this year. According to Datuk Seri Zainal Abidin Ahmad, president and chief executive officer, the problem affects nearly 40,000 vehicles, including Perodua Aruz and vehicle models based on the Daihatsu New Global Architecture (DNGA) platform, such as Perodua Alza and Ativa.

"The current vendor must make improvements within a specific time frame, which we are currently monitoring." "According to our data, the rate of warranty claims has decreased since February." This means the problem has been resolved as a result of the oil filter replacement," he told reporters after unveiling Perodua's first electric vehicle concept car at the Malaysia Autoshow 2023 here on Wednesday. According to Zainal Abidin, the automaker is also considering several other vendors as a possible solution to the problem. "We've talked to a few suppliers from all over the world about making the DNGA-model oil filter," he said.

He explained that filters from cars manufactured by original equipment manufacturers (OEMs) are not affected by the problem because they meet all production requirements. According to Zainal Abidin, "the issue only involves the aftermarket dealing with suppliers other than the OEMs."
