Two Used Perodua Myvi Hatchbacks Pop Up For Sale In Japan!
These used third-gen Perodua Myvi hatchback are currently listed for sale in Japan.
This week, what appears to be two used Perodua Myvi hatchback sale listing have gone viral on social media. While this is perhaps a common sight for many Malaysians, what’s perhaps very unusual is who listed them and where.
Yes folks, both this red and silver units of what many locals have dubbed the ‘King’ of Malaysian roads are listed as used cars for sale in Japan. Adding to this is the fact that both are relatively current third generation iteration of the Perodua hatch that isn’t based on any existing Daihatsu/Toyota-badged twin.

Introduced in late 2018, the third-gen Perodua Myvi hatch is a 100% homegrown Malaysian product, unlike its past two predecessors which were rebadged versions of the Daihatsu Boon/Sirion and Toyota Passo.
To refresh your memory, the third generation Perodua Myvi hatch first debuted to much fanfare in Malaysia back in 2017. Unlike its predecessors, which were based on the Daihatsu Boon/Sirion and Toyota Passo, the third-gen model was totally unique as it was a 100% homegrown Malaysian design and build.
Said third-gen model also saw a role reversal whereby Daihatsu opted to rebadge it as the Sirion in neighbouring Indonesia. Said model also first debuted using the familiar 1.3-litre and 1.5-litre DOHC D-VVTi 4-cyl petrol mills and 4-speed AT boxes before the latter was upgraded to a CVT in 2020.
This particular unit listed over at Carsensor.net currently has just 6,222 KM on its odometer!

Back to the used Myvis listed for sale in Japan, both are presently listed on used car listing site carsensor.net. You can see the listing for yourselves by clicking here and here. These also happen to be the earlier pre-facelift model mentioned that’s primed with a 4AT box, and both also happen to be in range-topping 1.5 AV guises too.
Both cars also show rather low mileage readouts on their odometers at 14,200 KM (silver) and 6,222 KM (red). The only other change we can tell in both too is their adoption of an aftermarket infotainment head units, as well as a card reader that’s compatible with Japan’s electronic toll collection system.
This silver unit listed alongside the red one above has a higher 14,200 KM mileage readout. Note the adoption of an aftermarket head unit, likely done to make both cars compatible for use in Japan.

Apart from which, much of the amenities of the AV guise remains, such as leather seat upholstery, as well as presence of Perodua Advanced Safety Assist (ASA) features like Forward Collision Waring (FCW) with Autonomous Emergency Braking (AEB), Front Departure Alert (FDA), and Pedal Mis-operation Control.
Odd here too are the prices listed, with the silver car tagged at ¥1,600,000 whilst the red car commands ¥1,700,000, the latter likely due to its lower mileage. Converted based on current exchange rates, these equate to RM 53,046 and RM 56,361 respectively, meaning one of them actually APPRECIATED in value from their original 2018 price tag of RM55,300!
How both cars ended up in the Land of The Rising Sun remains a mystery, but we've got an idea to which...(Image source: Carsensor.net)
As to how and why both cars have made their way into the Japanese used car market remains a mystery. Perhaps the clue lies in their listing location of Osaka province, which is where Daihatsu is headquartered.
From that, both were perhaps imported into Japan by said parent marque of Perodua for internal evaluation and tests. From said scenario, both cars have perhaps served their purpose and are being de-fleeted and parent Daihatsu are just being financially efficient in selling them to recoup their costs.

Presently, there are over 300 used third-gen Perodua Myvi hatchbacks listed for sale by our dealer-partners spanning multiple variants - H,X and G variants included. Click here to view them now!
