Brake-Checking Lexus Driver Gets Jail, Fine, And License Suspended

Screengrab of the moment Lim's brake-checking act caused a motorcyclist to collide into the rear of his silver Lexus on Monday.
Authorities have acted upon the viral road-rage video we reported on several days ago, and the offending driver in the silver Lexus was handed a number of punishments by a judge in court.
According to NST, said driver, identified as 26-year-old lorry driver Lim Ching Hong, was charged in court for reckless driving, to which the accused who stood unrepresented pleaded guilty to. Lim reportedly pleaded the court for a minimum sentence whilst showing remorse over his actions in court.

Having brake-checked the motorcyclist into a collision, a court handed Lim with a two-day prison stint, an RM6,000 fine, plus his driver's license suspended for 5 years.
Nevertheless, despite the charge entailing maximum penalties of a RM15,000 fine and a five-year prison term, Magistrate Fatin Dayana Jalil opted to serve Lim with a two-day prison sentence, a RM6,000 fine in default three month imprisonment, plus Lim’s driving license suspended for 5 years.
The punishments and penalties levied were perhaps just given Lim’s actions. Earlier this week, Lim was seen on dashcam recording brake-checking a motorcyclist into a collision following an initial heated verbal exchange – the cause of which remains undetermined.

An example of an aftermarket dashcam or DVR that's widely available in the market today.
Following which, the unnamed motorcyclist reportedly suffered injuries, namely a broken leg. The viral incident reportedly took place on Monday morning – not afternoon as initially reported – in the greater Kuala Lumpur area, specifically along the Jalan Syed Putra stretch.
This incident serves as yet another example why dashcams – or Digital Video Recorder (DVR), as how some car brands have termed these as – are fast becoming an essential kit. The CamScore grading scheme by MIROS should serve as a decent guide in choosing the right device based on budget and capabilities.
