Shell Malaysia has announced that the Shell App is now online in Malaysia across both Apple (iOS) and Android devices. The app is now available through both the Apple App Store and Google Play Store, offering its users a variety of novel functions including cashless fuel purchases.
“In today’s fast-paced world, people expect convenience through innovation and choice. Given our synonymity in innovating mobility solutions, the Shell App serves as a pivotal component to elevate experiences for all our customers at Shell,” said Seow Lee Ming, GM of Mobility, Shell Malaysia.
Essentially, the Shell App now lets frequent Shell users conveniently fill-up their cars without needing to be at the cashier physically.
We’ve downloaded the new Shell App (called ‘Shell Asia’ on iOS) ourselves earlier today on an Apple iPhone to take a quick look at it. From the get go, it’s quite a user-friendly app given how quick and easy its initial set-up phase was for us.
As mentioned, the app will enable users to perform cashless payments for fuel purchases, even negating the need to be physically at the cashier counter. You can purchase and pay for your fuel directly through the app, and it only requires you to enable your in-app location services plus linking your credit/debit card.

Regarding the latter, take note that the Shell App, unlike a certain rivalling local alternative, does NOT feature an e-wallet service. Instead, you’ll be paying for your fuel purchases directly via your linked debit/credit card instead, and the app lets you pre-set your fill-up amounts beforehand too.
Notably, users of Shell Malaysia’s BonusLink loyalty points cards will be glad to note the app’s integration of which. This will allow users to easily earn points, as well as redeem them for fuel or other rewards. On top of which, the app can also curate a personalised offer based on the user’s habitual preference.
Unlike a certain local rival, the Shell App does NOT feature an e-wallet. Cashless fuel payments are made through it by linking your credit/debit card directly.
Moreover, users will also be able to track fuel and BonusLink points spending via the app. This, in turn stands as an added layer of secure verification to mitigate users against possible frauds or scam threats.
Being GPS-enabled also means that the Sell App also has a built-in map and station locator, the latter boosted with a filter function. Said filter covers a variety of facilities and or services plus types of fuel available. Highlights include ATM, Surau (prayer rooms), TNG RFID Fuelling, and more.
Besides integrating the BonusLink loyalty card, the Shell App also has a map locator with a filter function.
Another key feature of the map locator is the ability to locate Shell stations with EV charging facilities. However, the app merely help users to identify these spots only, and it does NOT have the ability to activate any Shell station-based EV chargers yet – you’ll still need the ParkEasy app for that.
Presently, Shell Malaysia says that Shell App can now be used at 650 stations. The firm notes that the app will fully function at all stations nationwide by the end of this year.
