You Can Buy This Supercar-Slaying BMW Superbike For Hot Hatch Money!
This is the BMW M1000RR superbike with M Competition package, and it's a supercar-slaying two-wheeled missile that's priced like a hot hatch!
Whilst we at CariCarz.com don’t often dabble into the two-wheels front often, occasionally something truly exceptional comes about that’s worth a look. Case in point being the new 2023 BMW M1000RR with M Competition Package announced by BMW Motorrad Malaysia this week.
Priced at RM289,500, this BMW M-badged two-wheeled missile is very expensive, even by regular 1,000cc superbikes standards. However, we’ll point out the fact that it offers speed and performance abilities that can – and will – slay high-end supercars that can cost ten times as much or more (i.e. this and this).
Rich use of carbon fibre, aluminium, and magnesium sees the M1000RR tip the scales at just 169.8 KG dry.
Key to the M1000RR’s immense speed lies in its weight – or lack thereof. This stems from the superbike’s rich use of lightweight materials – and rare elements – for the bulk of its construction. It includes ‘unobtanium’ like carbon fibre, aluminium, and magnesium, resulting in a dry kerb weight of just 169.8 KG.
Propelling the M1000RR is BMW Motorrad’s liquid-cooled 999cc 4-cyl mill that’s primed with ‘Shiftcam’ variable intake camshaft tech. This high-revving screamer churns out a whopping 212 HP at 14,500 RPM and peak torque of 113 NM at 11,000 RPM.
Yes, these may not sound like massive numbers by car standards, but they are indeed extreme as far as two-wheelers – even superbikes as such – go. In fact, with said mill and lightweight figure, BMW Motorrad says the M1000RR can hit speeds of up to 314 KM/H!
This superbike even boasts wind tunnel-tested aerodynamic fairings plus a pair of massive MotoGP-styled wings that both generates downforce and provides high-speed stability.
Of course, power is nothing without control, and the M1000RR has plenty of specialised hardware for which like beefy dual 320 MM front brake rotors grabbed by quad-piston calipers and tied to a trick Race ABS. Next to that comes race-derived suspension package with fully adjustable front fork and rear shock.
As if that wasn’t enough, the M1000RR with M Competition Package also boasts wind tunnel-developed aerodynamic fairings. It includes set of massive MotoGP-styled wings that, aptly, aren’t for show – they actually generate downforce and provide high-speed stability for the M1000RR.
Race-derived brakes, fully adjustable suspension, and bevy of trick electronics further bolsters this two-wheeled missiles handling abilities, especially on track.
Completing the M1000RR’s race-ready package is an interactive and crisp 6.5-inch TFT digital dash display. Accessible via clever handlebar controls, it lets riders toggle between all the selectable ride modes available, and it can be equipped with an optional data-logger and GPS-enabled lap trigger.
Speaking of options, BMW Motorrad Malaysia have also a bevy of other accessories available to make the M1000RR ready for trackdays. It includes a sporty tinted windscreen, tyre warmers set, as well as an M Cover kit – essentials for frequent trackday warriors indeed.
Riders are greeted with a crisp and interactive 6.5-inch TFT display that can be optioned with a data-logger and GPS-enabled lap trigger.
Simply put, if you seek a two-wheeled missiles that can slay supercars on the streets, or perhaps one that can easily let you set blistering laptimes at your next trackday, few come close at eclipsing the BMW M1000RR with M Competition Package.
Also, the fact that all this two-wheeled high-speed goodness comes at somewhat ‘accessible’ cost figures akin to a modern hot hatch and not in the millions of Ringgits simply makes the M1000RR quite the thrilling bargain indeed. Wouldn’t you agree, folks?
