2026 VW Golf 1.5 eTSI R-Line Price Confirmed – RM185,990*
The baseline VW Golf hatch has been rebooted in Malaysia in face-lifted (Mk 8.5) 1.5 eTSI R-Line guise, and it's priced at RM185,990 (VAP included).

At last, after previewing it back in Nov 2025, it appears that Volkswagen Passenger Cars Malaysia (VPCM) has officially announced the price of the 2026 Volkswagen Golf 1.5 eTSI R-Line earlier today.
Locally assembled (CKD) in Pekan, Pahang, the rebooted baseline Golf hatch officially commands RM185,990 (RRP). However, for the first 50 customers, said early adopters will get to purchase it at just RM179,990 instead.
Included in both prices is the Volkswagen Assurance Package (VAP). For the Golf 1.5 eTSI R-Line specifically, it brings a 5-year, unlimited mileage warranty coverage plus 5 years free maintenance and 5 years roadside assist.
For the first 50 customers though, the 2026 VW Golf 1.5 eTSI R-Line is priced at just RM179,990 (with VAP).

As a recap, the eighth-gen (Mk 8) VW Golf hatch range was first announced locally all the way back in Nov 2021. The range then launched in 2022, buoyed by the fact it was localised (CKD) in Malaysia for the first time too.
Despite so, reception of the then unelectrified base 1.5 R-Line guise offered then proved sombre, prompting VPCM to quietly discontinue it shortly after launch. A reboot was mooted prior, but it seems it required both a facelift and complete powertrain change first.

Mk8.5 facelift brings mild styling tweaks masked by the added sportiness of the R-Line package.

As detailed prior, this iteration of the Golf hatch is motivated by mild-hybrid (MHEV) heart – it pairs a familiar 1.5-litre 4-cyl turbo petrol mill with a 48-volt belt-starter generator (BSG). Altogether, this setup outputs 150 PS and 250 Nm.
Drive goes to the front wheels via a signature VW 7-speed DSG box, promising 0-100 km/h dashes in just 8.6 secs. Critically, partial electrification sees this hatch sip as low 5.2 litres/100 KM on average too, thus making it the most Golf efficient variant available.

Under the hood, this Golf packs an MHEV powertrain that's both respectably peppy and very efficient.

Critically, besides a host of exterior visual tweaks, this Mk 8.5 facelift also brings with it an updated cabin furnished with revived physical controls replacing the much-maligned haptics touch control brimmed in the pre-facelift version.
Retained are both the 12.9-inch central infotainment touchscreen primed with wireless Android Auto and Apple CarPlay, interactive 10-inch TFT instrument panel, automatic tri-zone climate control suite, wireless charging pad, and more.
Critically, the 2026 VW Golf 1.5 eTSI R-Line is also brimmed with the German marque’s IQ.Drive ADAS suite that bolsters overall safety through its ability at delivering Level 2 semi-autonomous driving abilities.

Part of the facelift also sees the return of physical control interfaces in place of the much-maligned haptics touch controls brimmed in the pre-facelift version.
