Bespoke Ferrari SP-8 "One-Off" Model Previewed - Based On The F8 Spider

Ferrari has introduced the latest addition to its exclusive One-Off series, the Ferrari SP-8. This outstanding vehicle, which is a part of Ferrari's Special Projects programme, was made possible by the Ferrari Styling Centre under Flavio Manzoni's direction. The SP-8 is a F8 Spider-based mid-rear-engined V8 vehicle that shares the F8 Spider's design, chassis, and engine.
The name "SP-8" honours the vehicle's powerful 3.9-liter V8 twin-turbo engine, which has won four consecutive Engine of the Year (IEOTY) awards. The client who commissioned this unique vehicle is from Taiwan, where the number 8 is considered extremely lucky, symbolising success and good fortune in Chinese culture.

The SP-8's open-top design, which transforms it into a real two-seater roadster, emphasises its sporting character and offers a fantastic driving experience in the open air. To achieve acoustic comfort and a wind sensation similar to the automobile it was inspired by, substantial aerodynamic refinement using computer simulations, wind tunnel testing, and track testing was necessary.
The car's main design theme revolves around the seamless blending of its volumes. A strong two-tone contrast in both colour and materials is produced by the carbon-fibre front piece extending to the back. Designers were able to entirely remodel the rear area and give it a full and taut appearance by removing the retractable hardtop.

The SP-8’s body is split into two sections that are joined by a matte black centre compartment that houses the side air intakes for the engine and intercoolers. To maximise airflow to the radiators, the front has a full-width, cast aluminium grille with a distinctive strake theme.
The headlights, rear lights, windscreen, tailpipes, and newly made wheel were only a few of the SP-8's redesigned components. These five-spoke wheels, which are unique to the SP-8, were modelled after the vintage rims used on Ferrari Sports Prototypes and the legendary F40.

The centre console was significantly altered inside the vehicle to make room for the F1 gearbox controls. The interior has carpets made of a particular twill fabric with an iridescent appearance and seats with laser-etched Navy Blue Alcantara embellishments and gradient-effect fabric.
The SP-8 sports a distinctive matte Argento Micalizzato colour that contrasts with the glossy, iridescent Blue Sandstone finish on the carbon-fibre parts. Even the Blu Scuro Stellato hue, which unites the two bodywork parts, was specially developed.

The Ferrari SP-8 would be on display at the Mugello Circuit from October 24th during the Finali Mondiali Ferrari 2023. Following that, it will be on display at the Ferrari Museum in Maranello from November 16, 2023 to March 2024.
