Budget 2024 - BMW Group Malaysia Positive Outlook On Electrified & Sustainable Mobility!
-full_normal.jpg)
Hans de Visser, Managing Director, BMW Group Malaysia, said the Budget 2024 announcements have improved the outlook for electrified and sustainable mobility in Malaysia. The excitement Malaysians have displayed for this fresh movement and creativity is encouraging. This is completely in line with the BMW Group's plans for Malaysia in the upcoming year, where we hope to dominate the automotive industry and roll out ESG measures and all-electric vehicles.
BMW applaud the funding commitments made in Budget 2024 to help the government fulfil its electrification and sustainability goals. Their initiatives to advance the local electric vehicle (EV) industry and encourage EV use are commendable initiatives that will hasten the adoption of Electrified Mobility.

Moving forward, it is critical to hasten the adoption of EVs for cleaner mobility. In line with BMW’s goal of an electrified Malaysia, the government's decision to grant tax relief for EV charging costs and deductions for EV rental charges is significant.
Hans further added that BMW is Malaysia's top Premium EV supplier after introducing the all-electric BMW i fleet. This has resulted in the delivery of more than 1,700 BMW and MINI EVs in just eight months this year. We value the government's effort in extending access to EV charging stations and are dedicated to growing the EV ecosystem in Malaysia.

The BMW i charge network too has been expanded with the help of partners namely Tenaga Nasional Berhad (TNB), EV Connection (JomCharge), Siemens, Gentari, and Leader EV. The network now spans the entirety of Malaysia with over 1,000 charge stations. BMW also teamed up with Gentari to provide EV owners with a mobile charging solution to all their charging woes.
According to Hans, BMW is concentrating on creating trained persons who can work with cutting-edge technology through increasing investment in the Technical and Vocational Education and Training (TVET) sector. “Our programme for certifying BMW High Voltage Experts serves as a base for developing a knowledgeable workforce for the electric vehicle future, he added.”

In the future, BMW will take a collaborative approach to electrified mobility and sustainability. This is to support a culture of shared accountability on the Environmental, Social, and Governance (ESG) front. BMW Group Malaysia is prepared to collaborate with local Malaysian partners to address shared problems.
