Some BMW owners have reported problems with their iPhone 15's NFC chip during the past week after having used the wireless charging pad in their car. These grievances have been posted on different websites, including Twitter. According to them, the NFC chip stops working once the iPhone restarts, causing their iPhone 15’s to enter data recovery mode with a white screen.

For functions like Apple Pay and digital car keys, the NFC chip in an iPhone is essential. The Wallet app displays an error notice that reads, "Could Not Set Up Apple Pay," and there doesn't seem to be a quick resolution for the problem. There is presently no permanent fix for the problem, according to several people who claim that Apple replaced their iPhones after discovering NFC chip failure only for the issue to recur with the replacement phones.

Although customers of the iPhone 15 Pro and iPhone 15 Pro Max seem to be the majority of the complaints, it is possible that all iPhone 15 and iPhone 15 Plus too may also be faulty. Therefore, until this problem is rectified, iPhone 15 customers should be cautious and refrain from using the wireless charging pad in their BMW.

It is yet unknown what exactly caused this issue, how many consumers it affected, and which BMW models are affected. Apple has not released any statement with regards to this issue yet.
