Nissan Hyper Adventure Concept Previews Rugged Electric Off-Roader

Unveiled ahead of its ‘virtual’ debut at the upcoming Japan Mobility Show (JMS) 2023 is the all-new Nissan Hyper Adventure concept EV. Similar to the Hyper Urban concept that was previewed earlier this month, the new Hyper Adventure will serve as a basis for future production models, though this time in the form of a rugged EV off-roader.

The new Nissan Hyper Adventure is a capable off-roading EV SUV concept, powered by an AWD drivetrain
Designed for “people passionate about outdoor adventures and an eco-friendly lifestyle,” the new Hyper Adventure concept gets its motivation from Nissan’s proprietary e-4ORCE dual-motor all-wheel drive setup. However, the marque has yet to reveal its exact output and performance figures, only revealing that said powertrain setup is enough to transform this EV concept into a capable off-roader.
Similarly, no details regarding its battery setup was revealed by Nissan, except for the fact that it’ll boast a large capacity. So much so that the Hyper Adventure concept features Vehicle-to-Everything (V2X) capability which can provide power to homes via Vehicle-to-Home (V2H) technology, as well as to the local electricity grid with vehicle-to-grid (V2G) technology.

Visually, the Hyper Adventure looks like something from the future, with some familiar elements derived from Nissan’s current EV SUV model, the Nissan Ariya. Up front, the EV concept sports a pretty aggressive air intake at the lower part of the front bumper that directs air over the car via a large cutout between the front hood and the windscreen, while its headlights are kept minimalistically.

The Hyper Adventure rides on massive wheels, while sporting gullwing-style rear doors
From the side, this EV concept boasts a pretty traditional boxy SUV body style, albeit with a funky and sharp roofline. Here you can also notice that the Hyper Adventure rides on a set of large wheels with a snazzy turbine-like spoke design shod in spiked winter tyres – adding some extra off-roading pedigree to this adventure-ready EV SUV. Elsewhere, the Hyper Adventure also gets gullwing-style doors for the rear passengers, while the front ones get the normal outward opening style instead.

Things are more interesting as we get to the rear part of the Hyper Adventure, as its split tailgate comes with a built-in automatically-retractable step ladder that can be neatly folded to create this rugged-looking rear bumper accent. Aside from that, this EV concept’s derriere is also bestowed with a sleek LED taillight bar that runs across its rear windscreen.

As expected, the Hyper Adventure boasts a pretty futuristic-looking cabin design, highlighted by the instrument panel that spans across the front dash. Complementing this expansive display is a steering yoke, plus a full-width head-up display (HUD). While the front seats are fixed, the rear bench seat is actually rotatable to 180-degree, which can be used to create a seating area that faces out the vehicle’s rear.
Moreover, Nissan claims the Hyper Adventure’s cabin boasts enough space to house outdoor equipment like tents, skis, or even a kayak, though we assume the rear bench must be folded or stowed away to allow space for the latter.

Both the Nissan Hyper Adventure (left) and Hyper Urban (right) concepts will someday transformed into future production EVs
Set to make its first digital public debut at the upcoming JMS 2023 (previously known as the Tokyo Motor Show) alongside the new Hyper Urban concept, the Hyper Adventure is the second EV concept to be launched by Nissan this month, which will be followed by two more models in near future’s time.
As of writing, Nissan did not reveal any plans regarding the production of these new EV concepts, but we’re certain at least one of them will be part of the marque’s revamped EV lineup, in-line with its plan to sell only EVs in the European market by the end of this decade.
