Previewed: Exeed RX & VX SUVs – Coming to Malaysia in 2025?

Chery's luxury arm Exeed is poised to enter our local automotive market later in 2025!
Previewed here at the Chery International User Summit 2023 in Wuhu, China are several new models under a slew of Chery sub-brands. Among the three sub-brands available for the international market is Exeed, which is positioned by the Chinese automaker as their luxury arm.
With Chery Malaysia looking forward to bringing this luxury sub-brand into our market in near’s future, we at Caricarz.com have been given a golden opportunity to size-up with two midsize SUV models under the Exeed umbrella – the Exeed RX and VX.

Exeed RX midsize coupe SUV
Starting off with the former, the RX stood as the sportier model of the two, featuring a coupe SUV bodystyle with a sporty roofline. Up front, the RX features a pretty handsome front face, with sharp LED headlights and unique full-width DRL bar that runs all the way to both of its side air vents. Said LED lights are flanking the RX’s sleek front grille featuring body-coloured diamond patterns.

From the side, you’ll immediately notice the RX’s sporty roofline, flushed door handles, chromed roof rails and side skirt accents, as well as the side mirror and front fenders accent trims. Aside from that, the RX also rides on snazzy two-tone 20-inch wheels – befitting for a midsize coupe SUV that measures 4,781 MM long, 1,920 MM wide, and 1,671 MM tall.

At the rear, the RX gets an equally-stunning matrix LED taillights design, also featuring full-width DRL. Adding some extra sportiness to this coupe SUV are the dark-hued rear bumper accent featuring quad-piped exhaust tips – all four are actually real instead of the fake ones we see in many modern SUVs nowadays.

The RX comes with a pretty stylish and well-equipped cabin space
Being a model under Chery’s luxury sub-brand, the RX sports a pretty well-equipped cabin, laced with both luxury and tech amenities. Key tech bits include the 24.6-inch dual-screen setup powered by the Qualcomm Snapdragon chip, a head-up display (HUD) with ADAS integration, 14-speaker Sony premium audio system, and powered rear seats.
Plus, the powered front seats come with both heated and ventilated functions, while the passenger side gets extra footrest and back massage supports.

On the powertrain front, the Exeed RX is exclusively powered by a 2.0-litre 4-cyl TGDI turbo mill that is mated to a seven-speed DCT gearbox to deliver 261 HP and 400 NM. The RX is also offered with both the front- (FWD) and all-wheel drive (AWD) setups. Aside from the full ICE version, Chery is working on a plug-in hybrid (PHEV) variant of the RX, which is set to hit the global market some time in the near future.

Exeed VX midsize three-row SUV
Next in the Exeed line-up is the VX – a more practical, less sporty twin of the RX. Marketed as a midsize luxury SUV with a three-row seat option, the Exeed VX is slightly bigger than the RX coupe SUV, measuring 4,970 MM long, 1,940 MM wide, 1,795 MM tall, with a wheelbase of 2,900 MM.

On the visual front, the VX boasts a more matured and luxury design compared to its sporty twin. Key design highlights include its massive front grille with chromed horizontal bar design, LED headlights with simple L-shaped DRLs, a slew of chrome trims and accents on the exterior, while the LED tailights design is noticeably simpler than the RX.
On top of that, this bulky luxury SUV rides on equally-bulky 20-inch wheels with double five-spoke design, finished in two-tone hue.

As expected, the Exeed VX gets a pretty well-equipped cabin that blends both luxury amenities and modern tech equipment pretty well. Chief amongst its cabin equipment list is the triple screen layout at the front dash – one for the driver’s digital instrument cluster, one for the central infotainment system, and the third one for the front passenger. Aside from that, modern amenities like powered front seats with ventilated and heated function and expansive panoramic sunroof are all available here.

Depending on the market, the VX is offered with luxurious captain-style chairs for its second-row seats
The VX’s bulky facade is being put to good use, as this midsize SUV features three rows of seats, with options for either a six-seat or seven-seat configuration. The latter configuration features a two-seat captain-style chairs for the second-row passengers, both are power adjustable with ventilated functions as well.

As for its powertrain, this upgraded VX model is offered with the same 2.0-litre 4-cyl TGDI mill as the RX model, also delivering 261 HP and 400 NM. Offered in either FWD or AWD configurations, the VX’s powertrain is mated to an eight-speed conventional automatic gearbox developed by Aisin.

Which one of these luxury SUVs are you looking forward the most?
As we mentioned earlier, Chery Malaysia is planning to bring the Exeed brand into our market as early as 2025. More importantly, representatives from Chery Malaysia have also confirmed to us that both the RX and VX will be locally-assembled (CKD) here in Malaysia, with the firm looking forward to upgrading and expanding its current facility to cater for an influx of new Chery models in the future.
So folks, what do you think of the Exeed RX and VX? Which one out of these two luxury SUV models are you looking forward to the most? As always, don’t forget to leave your thoughts in the comments down below…
