Over 23,000 Caught Driving Without Licence During Ops Patuh Bersepadu 2023

Datuk Lokman Jamaan, senior law enforcement director of the Road Transport Department (JPJ), said that during the 14-day operation that ended on Friday (November 24), 23,748 notices were issued to road users for the offense.

"We inspected 554,372 vehicles during the exercise," adding that the majority of offenders were between the ages of 15 and 35.

“We have also issued 17,447 notices for expired vehicle taxes and 13,857 notices for lack of insurance coverage on vehicles.

“Other reports related to technical violations (12,191), missing commercial driving licenses (4,902) and overloaded vehicles (2,329),” Lokman said.

During the operation, JPJ identified seven other major offenses, including cutting through lines, running red lights, using cell phones while driving, and not wearing seatbelts, among others.

Lokman also stated that they had taken action against 4,797 foreigners for various traffic violations.
Driving without proper documentation has always been taken lightly by motorists. If you are caught driving with an expired licence can lead to an RM150 fine while an expired road tax puts you at risk of an RM3000 fine.
Meanwhile, driving without a licence is punishable by an RM300 fine, according to Section 26(1) of the Road Transport Act. Parents or guardians who allow their underage children to drive a car or ride a motorcycle without a licence face an RM2,000 fine under Section 39(5) APJ.
