Pilot Phase Of E-Driving Test System Will Involve Five Driving Institutes - JPJ

The electronic driving test system, or e-driving test system, is anticipated to be implemented nationwide by the end of this year, according to a July AutoBuzz report.
Driving tests will still be done in real cars with the e-driving test system, but the car will have cameras and sensors all over it to record the candidate's performance. According to a recent statement from JPJ, the electronic driving test system is presently being implemented in five driving institutes located in Johor, Penang and Kedah (one each) as well as Selangor (two) as part of a pilot programme, and everything is proceeding as planned.

“Full implementation of the system is subject to the policy and direction from the Transport Ministry,” the JPJ told The Star.
However, there are no plans to make the system mandatory for all driving schools, according to the statement.
Mat Aris Bakar, president of the Malaysian Driving Institute Association said that the system will see the performance assessment of driving test candidates on the test circuit conducted electronically. Learner drivers will no longer have a JPJ officer sitting next to them during their driving tests under the new system, as all evaluation will be done remotely from a control room using multiple cameras and sensors installed on the circuit. Students will also be able to review their exams if they fail them. “This includes the slope test, three-point turn, reverse parking, parallel parking, the Z-course, S-course and so on. “It is expected to be implemented in phases by year-end involving several driving institutes,” he told The Star

“It is a fairer system and can help in producing candidates who are truly competent and not those who passed the test because they were assisted or because of corruption,” he said, adding that the electronic driving test system will eliminate claims of unethical practises.
"the system will also speed up the testing process, where results can be obtained faster"
“It is a high-capacity system and is expected to increase the image of driving institutes and the JPJ,” he emphasised.
