Malaysia's most affordable new car on sale right now is the Perodua Axia 1.0 E MT @ 'Axia Rahmah'!

If you’re reading this, then it’s safe to assume that you’re definitely keen on acquiring the newly rebooted Perodua Axia 1.0 E that just launched earlier this week. Widely referred to as the ‘Axia Rahmah’, this is the bargain basement offering from Perodua that seeks to mobilise the rakyat without breaking the bank.

At RM22,000 sans insurance, or as low as RM300 monthly, this really is the most affordable new car you can buy right now. However, it does see lots of features deleted to meet that attractively low price. Perhaps some will find the package a little too… bare.

Axia-E-Manual-202300032.jpg

A nameplate that takes affordable mobility to whole new level.

Though the most affordable new DNGA-based Axia, the 1.0 G variant, starts at RM38,600, even this seems just out of reach for some. Surely, there must be a way to sweeten the Axia Rahmah’s deal, right? YES! Best part: The total cost of acquiring these accessories and parts, on top of purchasing the Axia Rahmah itself, will still be significantly lower than said base-spec new-gen Axia’s price!

After putting our heads together, we reckon we’ve come up with SIX aftermarket parts and accessories that anyone purchasing the new Axia Rahmah for personal ownership and daily driving should seriously consider. Indeed, these could sweeten life behind the wheel of said bargain supermini.

Lets just say that these stock tyres don't exactly inspire lots of confidence in us...

1. Upgrade The Tyres! – Approx. RM600 – RM768

The absence of ABS in the Axia Rahmah is indeed concerning, but you can drastically improve both safety and handling by simply upgrading out of  its factory-fitted tyres – and you really should.  Thankfully, there are plenty of trusted brand names to consider that still serve the budget-conscious.

A quick survey online brought us no less than five prime choices. Moreover, each promises vast improvement over the stock ones across several aspects including both dry and wet weather grip, low-rolling resistance for greater fuel economy, as well as total longevity of usage. Here’s our list:

- Kumho Ecowing KH27 - RM150 per pc (Lazada)

- Dunlop SP Sport J6 - RM153 per pc (Lazada)

- Goodyear Assurance - RM179.40 per pc (Shopee - Official)

- Michelin Energy XM2+ - RM187 per pc (Shopee)

- Bridgestone Techno - RM192 per pc (Shopee)

Top Tip: Most tyre shops welcome trade-ins depending on age and mileage, so you can trade the stock rubber in to knock down the cost of your new ones. Also, prepare extra funds for installation, or in case alignment and balancing services are needed.

Yes, we know, those 14-inch steelies simply holds neither style points or street-cred.
Worry not, we've got the remedy!

2. Wheels To Elevate Style & Stance! – RM500 max

Since you’ve got new tyres, why not match them with a set of stylish wheels to match too? This will definitely elevate the Axia Rahmah’s style and stance over the factory-fitted 14-inch steelies. Your safest bet is to go for stock or factory-made originals. These will fit properly, and also tend to last very long. Also, most tend to not break the RM500 mark.

Some of the pre-loved (used) alloy wheels we found on Mudah (left) and FB Marketplace (right).

Having scoured through listings on both Mudah.my and Facebook Marketplace, here’s a selection of tasty pre-loved (used) wheels that we reckon are worth a look should you not mind spending just a tad more to style up your Axia Rahmah:

- Classic Perodua ‘Big Spoke’ – RM350 (Mudah)

- The Right Shade Of Grey – RM360 (FB Marketplace)

- That Classic Axia Look – RM400 (Mudah)

- Striking ‘Rare’ JDM Choice – RM480 (FB Marketplace)

Top Tip: When buying used or refurbished wheels, always inspect their condition before purchasing. Avoid buying crash-salvage wheels, as well as cheap knock-offs or fakes.

Axia-E-Manual-202300041.jpg

Perodua did lace the Axia Rahmah with a manual single-zone air-cond. You can maximise it
with a basic window tint.

3. Stay Cool With A Good Tint – RM1,000 nett

Fortunately, Perodua did at least prime the Axia 1.0 E with a basic single-zone air-cond unit. Given this supermini’s cabin real estate, it should suffice. In our climate, having this feature deleted in the name of cost-saving might be seen as a serious mis-step. Maybe as serious as omitting ABS brakes? We’ll let you ponder that for yourselves.

Of course, you can do justice to said basic air-cond setup by ensuring your car’s cabin cools down quicker and stays cooler for longer, even when parked for long periods in between driving stints. One just needs to invest in a decent window tint with respectable heat and UV rays rejection rates.

Visit any Raytech flagship outlet now and enquire about its Skyblack tint package that
starts from RM1,000 nett for cars as small as the Axia.

For this, CariCarz.com recommends the Raytech Skyblack tint package. This is the entry offering from the homegrown specialist window tint retailer and installer chain. We chose the Skyblack package specifically for its high IRR heat rejection rate of up to 50% plus UV rays rejection rate as high as 99%.

We also chose the Skyblack package for its price. It is available through any of Raytech’s 35 flagship outlets nationwide. For small-sized cars like the Axia, it’s priced from RM1,000 onwards before discounts.

Axia-E-Manual-202300009.jpg

No, this bargain basement supermini does NOT have even a basic FM tuner radio equipped.

4. A Bangin’ Stereo! – Approx. RM388 nett (Head Unit + Speakers)

Bargain basement pricing meant Perodua had to skimp on equipping a basic FM tuner head unit in the Axia Rahmah. Well, worry not because you’re indeed spoiled for choice when it comes to in-car entertainment systems from the local auto aftermarket retail space.

Amongst many we found online, the best choice with the ideal feature-to-price ratio that should sate the demands of any first-time car-buyer is this 9-inch touchscreen unit retailing for RM260. It has all the key connected functions to cover music playback, hands-free phone function, and navigation. It even has a reverse camera thrown in for free!

audio-system-shopee.jpg

This head unit and speaker pairing we found online should suffice to blast your tunes with in the Axia Rahmah. (Images: Shopee)

On top of which, we’ve even found a set of speakers priced at just RM128 to match said head unit that promises to do some justice to that specially-curated Spotify playlist of driving tunes you’ve created. All in, this total package shouldn’t cost you more than RM400 before delivery and installation fees.

Bonus: If you’re an avid DIY fan, installing these in your new Axia Rahmah can be a fun weekend project!

CariCarz_file_Dashcam_-3-full.jpg

A dashcam is a solid first line of defence on the road in this day and age.

5. A Dashcam That Also Boosts Driving Safety! – RM499 nett

In an age where we see increased reports of road-bullies, scams, and unpredictable accidents or incidents, the most powerful defence for which is an all-seeing eye. We’re of course talking about a digital video recorder (DVR), more commonly known as a ‘dashcam’.

Dashcams are increasingly becoming a necessity these days for most motorist, so much to the point that MIROS even devised its CamScore dashcam rating system just to help consumers choose one based on budget and features. Naturally, you’d want one that has MIROS’ 5-star rating.

70mai-A800s---product.jpg

The MIROS 5-star-rated 70mai A800s dashcam comes highly recommended as it features 4k recording and GPS-enabled features on top of basic ADAS functions.

For this, CariCarz.com recommends the 70mai A800S priced at just RM499 sans SD Card or additional rear-facing camera and delivery fee. Given that most incidents are likely to occur in your forward field of driving vision, this is perhaps the best choice for the price given its 4K recording ability and added GPS-enabled features.

On top of which, the 70mai A800S has two basic active driver assists (ADAS) features, namely lane-departure warning (LDW) and forward collision warning (FCW). Fact: Said features are found in the range-topping new Axia 1.0 AV that’s priced at RM49,500, or more than twice what the Axia Rahmah’s retails for.

Bonus: Like #4, dashcam installation can also be a fun and very satisfying weekend DIY project!

Axia-E-Manual-202300008.jpg

Nope, there aren't even any coil mats atop the felt-lined floor panel in this bargain supermini. Keeping them clean will be a challenge, but we may have a solution...

6. Mats To Easily Keep Your Ride Clean! – RM229.90 nett

You should also know that the Axia Rahmah’s cabin does not even feature coil mats on top of the bare, felt-covered floor. Perodua does officially offer a coil mats set through its GearUp accessories catalogue alongside a matching rubber boot floor mat, but there’s arguably a better aftermarket solution.

Coil mats are nifty for those who like to keep their rides clean as it provides an extra layer of protection over the bare felt-lined floor panel mentioned. For this, the best budget-friendly option we found comes from Trapo Malaysia.

Trapo-2R.jpgTrapo-1R.jpgTrapo-3R.jpg

Trapo Malaysia's Eco Car Mat easily covers the entire floor of the Axia at just under RM230. This is nifty if you wish to keep your car clean. (Images: Trapo Malaysia)

This homegrown brand’s entry-level Eco Car Mat offering is readily available for the Axia for less than RM230 (nett, excluding shipping). The fact that these subtly stylish mats are sustainably-made using recycled materials to provide a hygienic, clean, and odour-free guard for your car floor is yet another bonus.

The Axia Rahmah (left) may lack the bells and whistles of the new Axia 1.0 AV (right), but we reckon the kit listed here ought to make the former just a touch better. Wouldn't you agree?

Grand Total: Approx. RM3,217 to RM3,585

Even if you go all-out to pimp out your Axia Rahmah with everything listed above, their total purchase costs, on top of purchasing said bargain supermini, is still significantly cheaper than the base new-gen Axia 1.0 G. Surely, in the eyes of any budget-conscious first-time car buyer, that’s quite a deal.

What do you folks reckon, then? Do you agree with our picks? Are we missing any other ‘essential’ kit? Or do you think you could do better? As always, hit the comments below, as well as our social platforms, with your thoughts on the matter.
