Apple Postpones Release Of Electric Car To 2028

Photo: Kashkar Apple has been developing a self-driving car since 2015, and after several production delays, the now-electric vehicle's release date has been pushed back to 2028. The car was previously scheduled to be released in 2026, but reports indicate that the Apple Electric Car (EV) will not be available until 2028.
According to those familiar with the Apple Car project, after initially envisioning a driverless car, the company is now working on an electric vehicle with fewer features. After nearly a decade of speculation about a new Tesla self-driving competitor, Apple appears to have hit a wall. Instead of pushing the self-driving vehicle beyond 2028, the company will go with an EV.
Bloomberg reported that the new release date is two years earlier than previously projected. The Apple Car project is one of the most anticipated and innovative in the company's history. Some may argue that the Apple Car will be just as hyped, if not more so, than the iPhone launch. Apple has never pursued motor vehicles, so a move toward an electric car model is far outside the tech giant's comfort zone.
Multiple heads of production have overseen the code-named Titan and T172 projects since their inception in 2015. Furthermore, the delays are the result of multiple layoffs and production halts. Here's hoping that whoever is behind the wheel will actually have the car on the road in the next four years.
