New Mercedes-AMG Sporty Electric Sedan Teased For The First Time

Mercedes-Benz has unveiled the upcoming AMG sporty electric sedan for the first time, set to debut later in 2025.
It is no secret that Mercedes-Benz is in the midst of developing a dedicated AMG four-door EV saloon based on the AMG Vision concept revealed back in 2022. Now, for the first time ever, the Three-Pointed Star marque has given us a glimpse of this upcoming sporty EV saloon from AMG, which is slated for a 2025 debut.

The camo-wraped AMG EV saloon prototype bears no resemblance to its concept twin the Vision AMG.
Revealed in a set of official teaser images, the upcoming AMG EV saloon comes fully-draped in a camouflage wrap, with the only uncovered parts being the lights and the four wheels. At first glance, you can see that this pre-production prototype bears very little resemblance to the sleek Vision AMG previewed prior, with said concept model boasting a more streamlined body style akin to the Vision EQXX concept.
Instead, the new AMG EV prototype boasts a sleek yet typical four-door coupe body style, and its overall silhouette looks similar to the AMG GT 4-Door coupe rather than the EQS sedan. This is further accentuated by the longer hood and pronounced rear shoulders, making this EV saloon look very ICE-like, just like its petrol-gouging AMG twin.

Aside from its provisional taillights, it appears that the AMG EV prototype comes with a ducktail rear spoiler.
Moving on to the second photo, it appears that this AMG EV prototype still comes with a large taillight design, which we believe to be the provisional units instead of the real deal. Other than that, the EV prototype also sports a rather sizable ducktail spoiler on its tailgate, while its rear bumper comes with a pretty sporty and sculpted design, further accentuating the car’s overall sporty appearance.

The upcoming AMG EV saloon will be the first AMG model to utilise the newly-developed AMG.EA platform.
While the final design of this AMG EV saloon is still hidden beneath the camo wrap, at least we’ve been given some clues regarding its powertrain and performance specs. For starters, this AMG-badged EV saloon will be the first model to underpin the new AMG.EA architecture, which is specifically designed for high-performance, fully electric AMG models.
Unlike the existing AMG EQ models that underpin the standard EVA platform, this new EV architecture promises to deliver an elevated driving experience that prioritises both power and agility over range and efficiency.
Digging deeper into its powertrain specs, CarScoops initially reported that the new AMG EV saloon is expected to incorporate lightweight electric motors from the UK-based brand Yasa, plus a slimmer battery pack with high-density capacity specifically developed by Sila Nanotechnologies.

The new AMG EV saloon could dethrone the manic Mercedes-AMG GT 4-Door 63 S E Performance as the most potent four-door model ever built by House Affalterbach.
Rumour has it that this four-door EV saloon will boast a total system output nearing the 1,000 HP mark. Should this be true, the new AMG EV saloon will be more powerful than the top-spec Mercedes-AMG GT 4-Door 63 S 4MATIC+ E Performance, which already boasts an impressive 832 HP thanks to its V8 plug-in hybrid (PHEV) powertrain setup.
The upcoming Mercedes-AMG EV saloon is set to make its global debut later in 2025, arriving as House Affalterbach’s answer to the infamous Porsche Taycan, which is touted as the current king of high-performance electric sedans. As of now, Mercedes-Benz has yet to reveal the final name for this new EV saloon, but we’d reckon the German marque can definitely make do with something less mouthful than the AMG GT 4-Door Coupe.
