Chery Auto Malaysia released a statement announcing that 59 of the 60 confirmed Omoda 5 owners whose vehicle are affected by the defective rear axle component weld have been contacted.
The Omoda 5 owners have also been issued a scheduled maintenance slot to visit Chery service centres for inspecting and replacement of the defective parts right away.

This follows the viral incident involving an Omoda 5 that encountered a chassis component failure on its rear axle, prompting Chery Auto Malaysia to issue a recall for that model.
According to Chery Auto Malaysia, after conducting a comprehensive inquiry with the components supplier, they discovered that 600 Omoda 5 units could be affected by a similar issue as a result of the component supplier's facility upgrade activity at the time.

As a precaution, Chery Auto Malaysia will contact the owners of the 600 impacted vehicles based on their Vehicle Identification Numbers (VINs). Alternatively, Chery Omoda 5 owners can also check if their car is due for an inspection via a dedicated website (https://www.chery.my/chery-product-update).
Customers with more inquiries can always reach out to Chery Malaysia's Customer Careline at +603-2771 7070.

Based on social media comments, we've noticed that the general public tends to associate the Omoda 5's rear suspension assembly with its electric variant, the Omoda E5.
Therefore, we at CariCarz.com would like to point out that the Omoda 5 and E5 have completely different rear suspension configurations, with the Omoda 5 employing a durable Torsion Beam setup and the E5 using a more innovative Multi-Link configuration.
