Jeep Wagoneer S Breaks Cover As Brand’s First Global EV SUV

The all-new Jeep Wagoneer S debuts as the brand’s first global EV SUV, set to arrive in selected RHD markets in 2025.
Ever since being taken over by Stellantis back in 2021, American marque Jeep has gone a bit more ‘international’ in its plan. As part of its global expansion, Jeep has launched its first-ever global battery electric vehicle (BEV) model, known as the Jeep Wagoneer S.
This new SUV model is Jeep’s second-ever all-electric model, following the small, EU-exclusive Jeep Avenger that debuted several months ago. More importantly, this new midsize EV SUV model will also be the first Jeep model to carry the ‘Wagoneer’ name in a long time, with said nameplate previously reserved for Jeep’s upmarket models.

Underpinning Stellantis’ STLA Large platform, the new Wagoneer S measures 4,886 MM long and 1,645 MM tall, slotting it nicely in the burgeoning midsize (D-segment) EV SUV market space alongside the likes of the Tesla Model Y.

The Wagoneer S' sizable 100-kWh battery pack grants it a decent maximum EV range of 482 KM.
Despite being the same size as said Sino-American EV crossover, the Wagoneer S harnesses a larger 100-kWh battery pack, which in turn grants it a farther EV range of 482 KM compared to the Model Y’s 449 KM range. Despite using a 400-volt battery architecture, Jeep claims the Wagoneer S can be charged from five to 80% in just 28 minutes, and that is despite its sizable battery capacity.

Thanks to its peppy dual-motor setup, the Wagoneer S is officially the quickest Jeep model ever.
Powering Jeep’s new EV SUV is a dual-motor 4xe electric motor setup rated at 592 HP and 702 NM, which is good enough for a decent century sprint time of 3.4 seconds and a capped V-Max of 200 KM/H. This essentially makes the new Wagoneer S the fastest-accelerating Jeep in history, eclipsing the V8-powered Jeep Grand Cherokee Trackhawk.

Besides its sheer power output, the new Wagoneer S also benefits from its clever design. Featuring tons of curves and slopes just like the Avenger EV, plus some EV-specific design touches like the flushed door handles, as well as some underbody shields and tyre spats, Jeep claims the Wagoneer S to boast a drag coefficient (Cd) of 0.29 – the same as the Tesla Model 3.

The Avenger inspos can also be seen in the Wagoneer S’ overall design, with this midsize EV SUV sporting similar design cues as its smaller siblings. Key design highlights present here include the illuminated seven-slat front grille with the full-width LED light bar sitting above it, the muscular SUV crossover body style with sleek roofline, and many more.

On board, the Wagoneer S houses tons of modern tech and comfort amenities. Up front, the SUV comes with no less than three screens, comprising a 12.3-inch digital instrument cluster, a secondary 12.3-inch screen for the main infotainment unit, as well as a third 10.25-inch screen at the front passenger side.

The screen-laden cabin is complemented by a host of ambient lights featuring 64 selectable colours, plush synthetic upholstery for the seats, some black ceramic-coated aluminium trims that are both scratch- and fingerprint-proof, ventilated front and rear seats, as well as a 19-speaker McIntosh Audio sound system that includes a massive 12-inch subwoofer.

The all-new Jeep Wagoneer S is poised to hit the North American market later this year, with prices set to begin from $71,995 (RM338,844) onwards. To make the Wagoneer S a truly global product for the brand, Jeep is also planning to launch this EV SUV in several right-hand drive (RHD) markets starting next year, with the UK set to be the first one to get them officially.
Closer to home, Stellantis Malaysia previously hinted at the arrival of several of its sub-brands into our market. While both Citroen and Leapmotor’s arrival was already hinted at by their appearance at the Malaysia Autoshow 2024 (MAS 2024) last week, there’s a faint chance that we might see the revival of the Jeep brand here in Malaysia, with the new Wagoneer S spearheading this effort.
Could this be possible? Would you be keen to see the sporty Jeep Wagoneer S make its landfall in our market soon? As always, don’t forget to leave your thoughts in the comments down below…
