Over RM2.4 million In Unpaid Summonses Collected At Penang Madani Carnival

The Madani Rakyat Program 2024 carnival held last weekend in Penang saw the Royal Malaysia Police (PDRM) offer motorists to pay their unpaid summonses for selected traffic offences with discounts up to 50%.

Said discounted payment scheme for traffic summonses was one of several activities and initiatives conducted during the carnival, which was held from May 3 to May 5 at Tapak Pesta Sungai Nibong.

Predictably, this proved to be a huge draw as the Home Ministry (KDN) revealed via its Facebook page that the initiative collected a total sum of RM2,452,510 across said carnival’s three-day span.

Based on the infographic posted by the ministry, things peaked during the carnival’s final day where the discounted summonses payment scheme raised over RM1,000,000.

Whilst discounted PDRM traffic summonses payment scheme as such isn’t new, it has proven to be an effective draw for the Madani government’s on-ground events and carnivals such as the one held last weekend.

However, said initiative from PDRM mooted by KDN does contrast starkly with the Road Transport Department (JPJ), which upholds a strict no discount policy for its summonses since 2018 at least.

Perhaps this is also a good reminder for you to check on your unpaid summonses status via the MyBayar PDRM page online.

Clearly, given the reception of this incentive, we are certain that PDRM will continue offering discount payment incentives like this recent one in Penang for the foreseeable future.

Despite so, we at CariCarz.com feel compelled to remind you, our readers and followers, that traffic offences and summonses issued for which shouldn’t be taken lightly.

Discount or not, it’s every road user’s responsibility to drive both safely and cautiously. Traffic rules exist and are enforced for our safety, and we should all do our part.
