Leaked Sepang F1 Ticket Prices Show RM200 MyKad Rate—But There’s A Catch

Motorsport fans across Malaysia were sent into a frenzy this week after screenshot leaks of the ticket pricing page for the upcoming Formula 1 Gulf Air Bahrain Grand Prix in Malaysia surfaced online.

According to images circulating on social media and Reddit, local racing enthusiasts holding a valid MyKad could attend the iconic 3-day event at Sepang International Circuit (Oct 2–4, 2026) for as low as RM200.

However, before you start gathering your squad and reaching for your credit card, there are several crucial details, and a major regulatory catch, you need to know before getting your hopes up.

The Leaked Pricing Breakdown: From RM200 To RM2,000

The circulated ticketing page displayed six distinct ticket categories for the race weekend at Sepang International Circuit. All listed rates are for 3-day passes (Oct 2–4, 2026) and are inclusive of tax:

• G Hillstand: RM200 (Cheapest entry option)
• B Hillstand: RM809.60
• C Hillstand: RM809.60
• F Grandstand: RM1,291.40
• K1 Grandstand: RM1,386.00
• Main Grandstand: RM2,083.40 (Prime view facing pit lane & start line)

For families planning to bring young motorsport fans, the leak also noted that children aged 3 to 6 qualify for a 25% discount (excluding the G Hillstand category), while kids under 3 enter for free (without an assigned seat).

So, What's "The Catch"?

While an RM200 price tag for a 3-day Formula 1 weekend sounds like an absolute steal, fans should keep three major caveats in mind before making plans:

1. Strict MyKad Verification & Ticket Invalidation

The leaked portal explicitly stated that these discounted rates are exclusively reserved for Malaysian citizens holding a valid MyKad.

To prevent scalping or unauthorized international resale, a verification process will be enforced. The page explicitly warns that any discounted ticket that fails MyKad verification or does not match attendee criteria will be automatically invalidated at the gate. In short: buying a discounted ticket for an international friend won't work.

2. The Leak Is Unconfirmed & Pages Are Inaccessible

The prices began circulating after users spotted ticketing pages linked to the event, with discussions popping up on Reddit. However, netizens quickly noted that the ticketing links became inaccessible shortly after.

Neither Sepang International Circuit (SIC), the Bahrain International Circuit, nor Formula 1 have officially confirmed these figures yet.

3. Bahrain Has Final Say On Official Ticket Revenue

Because Sepang is stepping in as a one-off host replacing Bahrain's original race slot, Bahrain International Circuit holds the hosting rights fee and collects ticket revenue.

SIC Chief Executive Officer Azhan Shafriman Hanif previously clarified that while SIC actively negotiated for affordable MyKad rates for local fans, Bahrain retains ultimate approval over final retail prices.
