Proton S70 And smart #1 Brabus Bags Local Awards

Roslan Abdullah, Proton's Deputy CEO and PRO-NET's Board Member, receiving one of the two trophies from the Allianz DSF.my VOTY 2024 awards that the national carmaker and its subsidiary mentioned.
Earlier this week, the Allianz DSF.my Vehicle Of The Year (VOTY) 2024 awards culminated with prize-giving gala. During which, national carmaker Proton, as well as its PRO-NET subsidiary, each took home an award trophy.
Starting with the main Proton brand, the national carmaker saw its latest C-segment sedan fighter, the new Proton S70, triumph in the’ ‘Sedan of The Year’ category. This is the S70 model’s first local award garnered, and it comes less than six month since it was first launched back in Nov 2023.
As a refresher, the Proton S70 stands as the first new sedan offering developed jointly by Proton and partners Geely following a trio of crossover SUVs (X70, X50, and X90). Available across four trimline variants, the tech-laden and richly-kitted S70 retails from between RM73,800 and RM94,800.

Both the Proton S70 (left) and the smart #1 Brabus were respectively named as 'Sedan of The Year' and 'Electric Crossover of The Year' at the Allianz DSF.my VOTY 2024 awards. Pictured above too are the trophies each garnered.
As for Proton’s PRO-NET subsidiary, which distributes the smart Automobile brand, it saw its debut and sole offering, the smart #1, garnering a trophy from said award panel too. Specifically, it’s the smart #1 Brabus performance flagship variant that won the ‘Electric Crossover of The Year’ title. Also launched back in Nov 2023, the smart #1 Brabus retails at RM249,000.
Said performance flagship variant packs a punchy dual-motor, all-wheel-drive (AWD) setup and a 66 kWh NMC-type battery, outputting 422 HP and 543 NM capable of despatching 0-100 KM/H in just 3.9 seconds. Moreover, its 400-volt architecture also enables rapid 22 kW AC and 150 kW DC charging inputs, as well as a claimed WLTP range figure of up to 400 KM.

Both the Proton S70 and smart #1 Brabus were launched back in Nov 2023. As for retail prices, the S70 range starts from RM73,800, whereas the smart #1 Brabus performance flagship is tagged at RM249,000.
Through these recently garnered awards, Proton notes that the effort represents a significant change in direction for the carmaker.
“Proton had a busy close to 2023 when we launched two all-new models in the space of just one week with both taking the company into unchartered territory,” adds Roslan Abdullah, Deputy CEO of Proton and PRO-NET board member, after receiving both trophies earlier this week.
