Driving schools have been warned not to participate in illegal 'kopi-O' driving licence issuance, or face instant revocation of their licences if caught. Transport Minister Anthony Loke stressed that rigged driving tests endanger road users, particularly young people.

"Driving schools must abstain from engaging in corruption. Failure to address this issue will lead to young people becoming victims. Our primary objective is to save lives," Loke stated during the 10th anniversary celebration of RDS Driving Academy.

He also advised the public to be wary of 'lesen terbang' offers promoted on social media. To combat corruption within the industry, the minister highlighted the introduction of the electronic driving test system (eTesting), a proactive measure aimed at enhancing integrity.

He also advised driving schools to become familiar with the system ahead of its mandatory deployment in 2030. "The ministry is committed to introducing eTesting to create a more trustworthy system. While some syndicates may continue to try to exploit the system, we are committed to eliminating corruption," Loke added.

Since the implementation of eTesting last April, the ministry has received a number of applications from driving schools. The Road Transport Department (JPJ) is now examining these petitions, and the first approvals should be awarded soon.
