Proton X50 Saw Over 110,000 Units Exported Since 2020
New 2024 Proton X50 RC revealed earlier today.
At the launch of the updated 2024 Proton X50 RC model held earlier today, national carmaker Proton revealed that said nameplate isn’t just a local success. In fact, Proton revealed that its right-hand-drive (RHD) rendition of this compact Geely-based crossover is a hit overseas too.
In his presentation, Proton’s deputy CEO Roslan Abdullah revealed that Proton has exported over 110,000 units of the X50 since its debut back in 2020. To date, Proton exports the X50 model specifically to no less than 11 RHD markets other than Malaysia.
Proton deputy CEO Roslan Abdullah (above) detailed that the national carmaker has shifted over 110,000 units of the X50 to 11 other RHD markets overseas.
Amongst them are Brunei, Bangladesh, Bermuda, Barbados, Fiji, Mauritius, Nepal, South Africa, Trinidad and Tobago, as well as Papua New Guinea. Proton adds that the cumulative mileage racked up by these exported units cover almost 4.1 billion KM as well.
Of course, these figures pale in contrast to the left-hand-drive (LHD) Geely Binyue/Coolray original that the X50 underpins. Besides its native home market of China, Said Geely-badged offering is also present in over 50 LHD markets, and Geely has shifted over 770,000 units thus far.
The new 2024 Proton X50 RC is available across four variants and is priced from RM86,300 onwards.
As reported, Proton revealed the upgraded iteration of the X50 – dubbed the X50 RC (Running Change) – earlier today featuring a host of small improvements on board – namely through NVH and the upgraded infotainment system.
Like before, the X50 RC is available locally across four variants – 1.5T Standard, Executive, and Premium plus a 1.5 TGDi Flagship – that are priced between RM86,300 and RM113,300. Said upgraded version of the X50 is expected to be exported soon as well.
