The newly-updated 2024 Proton X50 RC charts its best sales result this year in July with 2,585 units sold.

It’s been a couple of months since Proton unveiled the updated 2024 Proton X50 RC, featuring some minor equipment updates. While some have questioned Proton’s decision not to give it a proper facelift treatment, the automaker’s decision ultimately pans out, as this beloved B-segment SUV model once again leads the local sales chart.

In July alone, Proton recorded a total of 2,585 units of the X50 RC, marking its best performance in 2024. This positive sales growth also vaults the X50 RC back to the head of its class and solidifies its status as the best-selling B-SUV in our market, securing a 10.3% market share in this segment from January to June 2024.

According to Proton, this rebound in sales doesn’t come as a surprise since the X50 has been one of its strongest performers. Ever since its pandemic-laden debut back in Oct 2020, Proton has shipped nearly 120,000 units of the X50, making it the fastest-selling SUV in Malaysian automotive history.

Given its strong sales performance, it comes as no surprise that the X50 has resonated with a diverse demographic, appealing equally to both male and female buyers. According to the automaker, over 60% of the X50 buyers are aged from 26 to 50, thus indicating its broad appeal towards both young professionals and family-oriented individuals.

Besides its wider appeal, Proton’s extensive network of 3S and 4S centres nationwide also helps to convince buyers to choose the X50 over other B-SUVs out there.

"July’s sales performance for the 2024 Proton X50 is a testament to the hard work and dedication of the entire team at Proton, who listened closely to customer feedback. The model’s blend of performance, safety, and connectivity continues to resonate with our customers, thus satisfying their needs. At the same time, Proton has made local production improvements, and the customer-centric enhancements have kept the PROTON X50 ahead of the pack,” said Proton Edar CEO Roslan Abdullah.

For the 2024 running change update, the 2024 X50 RC gains some key improvements that directly address feedback and complaints from customers. This includes improved noise, vibration, and harshness (NVH) levels, a larger 10.3-inch infotainment display that now supports the Proton Link app, an upgraded 360-degree camera system, as well as a powered tailgate for the Premium and Flagship variants.

“Going forward, Proton will continue to innovate and deliver exceptional value to our customers, reinforcing our position as a key player in the automotive industry," Roslan added.
