Most Malaysians already have a Touch ’n Go card somewhere in their wallet, and many still stick to SmartTAG out of habit. RFID, despite years of promotion, hasn’t reached the same comfort level.

So when Proton began fitting the X50 with a factory-installed Touch ’n Go RFID tag, it sounded convenient, yet a good number of owners didn’t activate it at all.

That’s likely why Proton and Touch ’n Go have rolled out the new “Roar Forward, Ride Freedom” campaign. It runs through Nov and Dec 2025 and gives X50 buyers a gentle nudge to finally activate that unused tag.

The reward is straightforward. Activate the built-in RFID and you stand a chance to receive up to RM500 in free tolls spread over three months. No extra setup, no complicated steps, just activate it and enjoy the benefit.

68 winners will be picked through a live draw on Proton’s Facebook page, and rebates go directly into the Touch ’n Go eWallet linked to the vehicle. Depending on purchase month, the rewards start early 2026.

At its core, the promotion is pretty much a practical push to increase adoption of the pre-fitted RFID system, something Proton clearly expected to be more widely used by now.

And with the X50 already holding its spot as Malaysia’s best-selling B-segment SUV, making toll payments smoother is one of those small upgrades that can improve daily driving without asking much from the owner.

For anyone who’s ignored that RFID sticker on the windscreen, this is probably the easiest reward they’ll ever claim.
