DBKL Offers Discounts For Traffic Compounds Until Sept 30
In honor of Merdeka and Malaysia Day, Kuala Lumpur City Hall (DBKL) is providing special discounts on outstanding compound fines for traffic and general offenses. These discounts will be valid from August 1 to September 30.
Motorists may benefit from reduced fines for a variety of traffic offenses, including parking violations. The discounted rates are RM10 for motorcycles, RM20 for cars, MPVs, and small trucks, and RM50 for buses and large trucks. General offenses, such as those pertaining to hawking licenses, will also be waived in addition to traffic fines; offenses without reference to foreign nationals will be charged a flat fee of RM100. However, certain exclusions apply, and the offer is not valid for vehicles that are on a blacklist.
City Hall has made it clear that some offenses are not eligible for the discounts. These include infractions against the Wholesale Market (WPKL) 2002 and the Transportation of Material (WPKL) 1997 bylaws.
Violations of the Licensing of Trades, Businesses and Industries (WPKL) 2016 by-law that pertain to the employment of foreign nationals without valid work permits are likewise not included.
Moreover, the discounted rates do not apply to violations of the Federal Territory (Planning) Act of 1982, the Hotel Act of 2003, the Entertainment Act of 1992, or the Licensing of Hawkers by-law. The Street, Drainage and Building Act of 1974's violations pertaining to building approvals are also not covered by this offer.
It is worth noting that traffic offenses classified as bus lane violations under Section 53 of the Road Transport Act 1987 are not eligible for these discounted rates.
