Integrated Traffic Operation – 967 Summonses Issued, 29 Vehicles Seized

A large-scale integrated traffic operation conducted at several locations across Kuala Lumpur resulted in the issuance of 967 summonses for various offences. The operation, which took place from 11 AM Saturday, August 10, until 5 AM Sunday, August 11, involved multiple law enforcement agencies.
The operation which was spearheaded by the Kuala Lumpur Traffic Investigation and Enforcement Department (JSPT) also involved the Narcotic Crime Investigation Department (JSJN), the Road Transport Department (JPJ), and the Department of Environment (JAS).

Kuala Lumpur Deputy Police Chief, Deputy Commissioner (DCP) Datuk Azry Akmar Ayob, reported that a total of 2,397 vehicles were inspected during the operation of which 29 were seized due to illegal modifications. Authorities also detained eight individuals tested positive for drugs and 13 others were arrested for driving under the influence of alcohol.
DCP Azry emphasised that the primary objective of the operation was to ensure compliance with traffic regulations by both drivers and vehicles. He further added that such an operation is conducted every week in the city following complaints from the public with regards to noisy exhausts and dangerous riding by certain road users.

DCP Azry further urged the public to adhere to traffic laws, avoid illegal vehicle modifications, and refrain from participating in dangerous road activities.
"Any riders performing dangerous stunts on the road will be detained and prosecuted under the Road Transport Act 1987," he added.

Meanwhile JAS had also conducted checks on vehicle exhaust noise levels and found several motorcycles with illegal modifications.
The operation, which was held at locations such as Jalan Sultan Azlan Shah, Jalan Tun Razak, and Jalan Bangsar, also witnessed several motorcyclists riding against the flow of traffic in an attempt to evade roadblocks. Some riders were observed stopping at nearby locations to avoid being checked by authorities.
