Hyundai & Škoda Teams Up To Explore Hydrogen Mobility Tech
Hyundai Motor Company and the Škoda Group have signed an MOU agreement to collaborate on the development of an ecosystem for hydrogen-powered vehicles. Škoda Group CEO Petr Novotný, and Hyundai Motor Company Executive Vice President Ken Ramírez, inked the agreement during the recent Korea-Czech Republic Business Summit held in Prague.
According to Ken Ramírez, accelerating the deployment of hydrogen technology would assist in reaching carbon neutrality in international markets, including the Czech Republic. This is the goal of the relationship with Škoda Group. He emphasised how the partnership will maximise the benefits of Hyundai's fuel cell technology and Škoda's mobility offerings.
Meanwhile, Petr Novotný continued, saying that hydrogen will be essential in changing mobility for a more sustainable future, in addition to other energy-efficient options. Through their collaboration with Hyundai, the two businesses will be able to investigate new markets and contribute cutting-edge, environmentally responsible solutions to global mobility ecology.
The MOU's primary objectives are to investigate energy-efficient mobility options and the uptake of hydrogen fuel cell systems. Prospects for a hydrogen ecosystem outside of transportation are also being investigated by both sides.
Hyundai, through its HTWO brand, is committed to building a hydrogen society, and its Czech manufacturing plant, Hyundai Motor Manufacturing Czech (HMMC) which was set up in 2008, has the capacity to produce 350,000 vehicles annually, making it one of the largest and most modern car plants in Europe.
