Launched: 2024 Mercedes-Benz GLC 350e 4Matic CKD – RM398K

Launched alongside the W214 E-Class today is the new Mercedes-Benz GLC 350e 4Matic CKD, priced at RM398,888.
Making its debut alongside the W214 E-Class duo today is the new variant for the second-gen (X254) GLC, the Mercedes-Benz GLC350e 4Matic plug-in hybrid (PHEV) SUV. Just like the rest of the X254 GLC lineup, the GLC350e 4Matic is also locally-assembled (CKD) at Mercedes-Benz Malaysia’s (MBM) Pekan production facility, where it is priced at RM398,888 on-the-road—making it RM20,000 more expensive than the GLC300 CKD.

The new GLC350e is powered by the same PHEV setup used on both the C350e & E350e saloons.
And just like its fellow 350e PHEV siblings, the GLC350e is also powered by a familiar PHEV setup comprising a 2.0-litre 4-cyl turbocharged M254 petrol mill rated at 204 PS and 320 NM, which is then paired with a single e-motor setup rated at 129 PS and 440 NM. Combined, this PHEV setup delivers a total system output of 313 PS and 550 NM.
All of those powers are sent to all wheels (AWD) via Mercedes-Benz’s proprietary 9-speed 9G-Tronic automatic gearbox and 4Matic AWD system, allowing the GLC350e 4Matic to go from 0-100 KM/H in 6.7 seconds and a V-Max of 218 KM/H.

As for its battery, the Malaysian-spec GLC350e 4Matic differs a bit from its cousins abroad, as it is juiced by the same 25.4-kWh battery pack used on the E350e instead of a bigger 31.2-kWh unit in other markets. However, MBM claims that this smaller pack is enough to grant the GLC350e 4Matic with up to 131 KM of EV-only range (WLTP), although no 55 kW DCFC is present on board, as the SUV settles for a more conventional AC 11 kW charger.

On the visual front, the GLC350e 4Matic looks pretty identical to the GLC300 CKD, as both models come standard in the AMG Line package, which adds several snazzy bits like the AMG Line body kit, the diamond-pattern front grille, and the 20-inch AMG alloy wheels the SUV rides on. Also present here are the LED Digital Light projector headlights with adaptive high beam, a panoramic glass roof, aluminium roof rails and side steps, and many more.

The similarities with the GLC300 are more prominent as we get inside the GLC350e’s cabin, as the model is also primed with an 11.9-inch portrait-oriented infotainment display powered by the latest MBUX infotainment suite. Also similar to the GLC300 are the 12.3-inch digital instrument cluster, the 15-speaker Burmester 3D surround sound system, Nappa leather-wrapped AMG Line steering wheel, alloy foot pedals, and power-adjustable front seats wrapped in Artico man-made leather upholstery, to name a few.
However, the GLC350e loses a bit of its practicality edge compared to the GLC300, as it comes with a smaller 490-litre boot space compared to the GLC300’s 620-litre unit.
As for safety, the local-spec GLC350e comes standard with the Driving Assistance Package Plus, garnering the PHEV SUV with Level 2 semi-autonomous driving capabilities. Key ADAS features included in this package are autonomous emergency braking (AEB), adaptive cruise control (ACC) with stop and go, lane centring assist (LCA), blind spot monitoring (BSM) with collision prevention, front (FCTA) and rear cross traffic alert (RCTA) with auto brake, and many more.

Now open for booking, the all-new Mercedes-Benz GLC350e 4Matic CKD is priced at RM398,888 on-the-road. Included with said price is the standard 4-year unlimited mileage vehicle warranty provided by MBM, on top of an additional 8-year or 160,000 KM battery warranty.
