BLUESHARK-44.jpg The upgrade from the motorcyclist’s Licence (LMM) Class B2/B1 to LMM Class B under the Special Transition Programme started yesterday (Oct 1). Applicants may use the MyJPJ app, the mySIKAP website, or any JPJ public service counter to check their eligibility for the conversion programme.
According to the Road Transport Department (JPJ), there are three essential requirements for the upgrade, which will come at a cost of RM 160  to cover registration and insurance for the applicant, a two-hour conversion and familiarisation course. The fee also covers vehicle rental and use of a training course, as well as the JPJ test fee.

In a report published by Sinar Harian yesterday, the first two requirements are that applicants must be citizens of Malaysia and possess a valid, continuously-effective Class B2/B1 competent driving license (CDL).
The third requirement states that applicants must not have any outstanding summonses, transaction restrictions, records of serious offenses, or unresolved Act 333 matters. They also must not be on a blacklist.

On Aug 2, Transport Minister Anthony Loke announced that, starting Oct 1, driving institutes would no longer offer programmes to obtain Class B1 motorcycle licenses for the public.
