DBKL Refutes Double Standards Claim In Clamping Operation
A Malaysian man recently made headlines with a TikTok video in which he questioned Kuala Lumpur City Hall (DBKL) officials for allegedly ignoring luxury cars parked illegally.
After the authorities clamped his car and issued a notice, user @thenshijin videotaped himself addressing them in the video. He asked why the authorities ignored the fancy cars in the area.
His caption read, “Clamp Bezza but don’t clamp expensive car. Explain this, DBKL? Fyi, we already paid our fee but where’s justice? Expensive car means I can break the rules ah?
On its Facebook page, DBKL firmly refuted the claim after the video went viral, stating that the clamping of the Bezza was done in compliance with the council's normal operating procedure (SOP) and that no preferential treatment was involved.
According to the council, 13 vehicles—including the Bezza seen in the social media post—were clamped on the day of the operation. The council also noted that clamping vehicles that are occupied by their drivers is against its standard operating procedure.

“The action was conducted fairly and transparently. The clamping of the Perodua Bezza, which was filmed by the vehicle owner, took place at 1:09pm, with the clamp being removed at 1:30pm. Our officers had instructed drivers present in their vehicles to move them from the area,” the council wrote in its statement.

In order to safeguard the safety, comfort, and order of the city for all citizens, DBKL stated that it is still dedicated to maintaining fairness and consistency in its enforcement activities. It also emphasized that all measures are carried out impartially and without bias.
What do you think? Is it true that there are no double standards in relation to this matter? Let us know your thoughts.
