Special Permit Required For Diesel Purchases Exceeding Limit
Domestic Trade and Cost of Living Minister Datuk Armizan Mohd Ali states that qualified individuals, small businesses, or organisations may apply for a special permit to buy diesel in excess of the standard limit. However, he clarifies that the special permit is only for authorised uses and not for resale.
“Applicants must submit a letter of confirmation from the relevant agency and apply via the Special Permit System available on the KPDN (Domestic Trade and Cost of Living Ministry) portal.
“This includes agricultural and livestock purposes, with a quantity limit not exceeding 200 litres per day for purchases at petrol stations,” he said when winding-up debate on the 2025 Supply Bill for the ministry in the Dewan Negara yesterday.
On June 10, the rationalisation of diesel subsidies commenced, allowing the fuel price in Peninsular Malaysia to remain at its present level of RM2.95 per litre. According to the Subsidised Diesel Control System (SKDS) 2.0, qualified logistics vehicles are entitled to RM2.15 per litre of diesel as a subsidy.
The price of RM1.88 per litre for land public transport, including as school buses, express buses, ambulances, and fire engines, and RM1.65 per litre for diesel that is subsidised for fishermen, is still the same under the SKDS 1.0 program. The Budi Madani program, on the other hand, provides RM200 in monthly cash aid to successful candidates. This program is for smallholder farmers and private diesel vehicle owners.
