2025 Geely Jiaji MPV Debuts in China – Future Proton Exora Replacement?

The 2025 Geely Jiaji MPV made its debut in China today. Could this be the long-awaited successor to the Proton Exora?
Chinese automotive giant Geely has unveiled the 2025 model year (2025 MY) version of its compact MPV fighter, the Geely Jiaji. This upgraded MPV arrives in two variants in its native Chinese market, featuring some minor equipment over the pre-updated model.

On the visual front, the new Geely Jiaji looks the same as its predecessor, as the 2025 MY is just a mere equipment upgrade rather than a full-blown facelift. Present here is a familiar front face featuring sharp LED headlights that are flanking its front grille design, which looks pretty similar to the Proton S70 sedan. The full LED unit is matched with full-width LED taillights at the rear.

Dimension-wise, the Geely Jiaji MPV measures slightly longer than the Proton Exora.
From the side, the Jiaji MPV features a pretty sleek roofline that gives it a pretty sporty look compared to other boxier MPVs out there. Depending on the variant, the new Geely Jiaji rolls on either 17-inch or 18-inch wheels, with the latter featuring wider tyre tracks measuring 235/50 R18.
In terms of dimensions, the Jiaji MPV measures 4,826 MM long, 1,909 MM wide, 1,695 MM tall, and has a wheelbase of 2,805 MM – making it slightly bigger than the now-discontinued Proton Exora.

On board, the 2025 Geely Jiaji comes in either six-seat (2-2-2) or seven-seat (2-2-3) layouts that are spread across three rows of seats. As per any latest Geely model, the updated Jiaji MPV gets a host of modern amenities, including a 12.3-inch central infotainment display powered by Geely Galaxy OS, a 10.25-inch LCD instrument metre panel, an expansive panoramic sunroof, a six-speaker audio system, and many more.

Thanks to its long wheelbase, the Jiaji MPV has a total of 54 storage compartments throughout its interior, including a unique dual-stack central console with a hidden drawer compartment for the rear passengers. Equally practical is the Jiaji’s boot space, which measures 513 litres as standard and can be expanded further if you fold down the rear third-row seats.

The 2025 Geely Jiaji still gets its motivation from the same 1.5-litre 4-cyl turbocharged engine that delivers 178 HP and 290 NM, which is then augmented by a seven-speed wet-clutch DCT automatic gearbox. Geely claims the new Jiaji boasts a fuel economy rate of 6.9 litres per 100 KM/H, while its top speed is capped at 190 KM/H.

For its native Chinese market, the all-new 2025 Geely Jiaji is priced at CNY 109,700 (RM70,438) for the baseline variant, while the range-topping spec is tagged higher at CNY 119,700 (RM76,854).
As of now, Proton has yet to reveal any plans regarding the replacement for the recently-discontinued Exora, as the national automaker previously snubbed rumours regarding a Geely-based successor to its beloved MPV model.

2023 Proton Exora MPV
With the national automaker still in the midst of developing its proprietary GMA platform that will be used on both ICE-powered and fully-electric models, we still think that Proton should reconsider taking the Geely Jiaji as an immediate successor to the Exora, providing a good alternative to the burgeoning Perodua Alza and other non-national compact MPVs out there.
