Puspakom Suspends Six Officers Over Suspected Corruption
The CEO of Puspakom, Mahmood Razak Bahman stated that the company has suspended six of its officers for allegedly participating in a syndicate that authorised heavy vehicle tests. He also said that the company will not tolerate any corruption and is looking into the matter internally to stop such activities.
“As I have repeatedly said, Puspakom will not compromise on any corruption-related crimes. If evidence of wrongdoing is found, we will not hesitate to take strict action against any staff involved in such activities.
“This includes those colluding with syndicates and carrying out unauthorised vehicle inspection approvals,” he said in a statement, adding that Puspakom was also conducting an internal investigation “Puspakom will not protect anyone involved in corruption,” the CEO said as he assured that anyone found linked to the crime would be handed over to the authorities for appropriate action.
Officers from Puspakom were recently summoned by the Malaysian Anti Corruption Commission (MACC) due to allegations of corruption and improper approval of evaluations. The probe also followed a tragic accident on the North South highway that killed seven persons when a large truck was involved in a five-vehicle pileup.
