Fireworks Stall Blaze Claims 5 Vehicles In Cheras

A fire broke out at a fireworks stall at Jalan Dataran Cheras 6, Dataran Perniagaan Cheras last night.
The fireworks stall in question was located in front of a popular convenience store, occupying two street parking boxes.

As you can see in the featured photos and viral social media videos, the blaze had spread to nearby parked vehicles. Two motorcycles, a Toyota Vellfire, a Perodua Bezza, and a Proton Saga were set ablaze.

Both the Vellfire and Bezza, and at least one motorcycle, appeared to be total losses. Other vehicles involved suffered varying degrees of damage.
According to local news outlets, the Bandar Tun Hussein Onn fire and rescue station swiftly responded to a distress call received at 9:53PM. A team of 13 firefighters and three fire engines were despatched to the location and the blaze was successfully contained thereafter.

Whilst the fire destroyed and damaged vehicles and parts of the convenience store mentioned, there were thankfully no injuries or deaths reported. Selangor Fire and Rescue Department Assistant Director of Operations Ahmad Mukhlis Mukhtar confirmed this with local news outlets.
Despite today being the last day of the festive Chinese New Year celebrations, we reckon the threat of fires from pop-up fireworks stalls as such remains. The same sort of fireworks peddlers are expected to return in just several weeks time ahead of the upcoming Hari Raya Aidilfitri celebrations.

in light of which, perhaps it would be wise to be vigilant of where we park our vehicles during festive periods.
