Proton Partners with MPC to Explore Sustainable Productivity Initiatives

National carmaker Proton partners with the Malaysia Productive Corporation to explore sustainable productivity initiatives.
National automaker Proton has announced a new partnership with the Malaysia Productive Corporation (MPC), the government agency tasked with driving and enhancing the nation's productivity, in exploring opportunities on sustainable productivity initiatives.

Through this partnership, both Proton and MPC have co-organised a single-day conference titled “Embrace Transformation; Innovate Towards Productive Operations,” where the shared aim of the event was to benchmark ideas and best practices related to business strategies and productivity (QCD), as well as understand how other industries perform strategic transformation and operational initiatives towards achieving business excellence.
More importantly, the partnership will also explore collaboration opportunities between the two entities working directly with the Malaysian government on future and sustainable productivity initiatives.

Aside from Proton and MPC, other presenters during the conference were Composites Technology Research Malaysia (CTRM), Port of Tanjung Pelepas (PTP), and Arthur D. Little. Attendees to the event included team members from MPC, representatives from the Ministry of Investment, Trade, and Industry (MITI) and the Malaysia Automotive, Robotics & IoT Institute (MARii), and the aforementioned companies along with Proton’s senior managers.

Such a partnership will be key for the national automaker, as it is in the midst of transitioning into becoming a new energy vehicle (NEV) manufacturer, with some of the big steps already underway being the construction of its first NEV assembly plant, as well as the establishment of the whole Automotive High-Tech Valley (AHTV) in Tanjong Malim, Perak.

Dr. Mazrina Mohamed Ibramsah, Deputy Director General of MPC
“MPC drives national productivity holistically at the national, sectoral, and enterprise levels by developing future talent, driving digitalization and innovation, and building a robust ecosystem. By collaborating with public and private sector entities like Proton, we hope to boost productivity growth and national competitiveness, ultimately leading to shared well-being and prosperity,” said Dr. Mazrina Mohamed Ibramsah, Deputy Director General of MPC.

Dr. Li Chunrong, Proton CEO
Meanwhile, Proton CEO Dr. Li Chunrong said, “By collaborating with MPC, we are leveraging expertise that is gained from having a wider view across multiple industries while learning and adopting best practices from companies that have gone through their own business transformation journeys. In return, we hope PROTON has also been able to share some insights from the automotive industry for the mutual benefit of all our partners.”
