Since January, the Public Works Department (JKR) has reported the repair of over 31,180 square meters of potholes, equivalent to approximately four and a half football fields, on federal and state highways in Kelantan.

According to state JKR director Nik Soh Yaacoub, the repair work included 21,580 square meters of potholes on federal highways and 9,600 square meters of repair work on state roads.

The Director further stated that the department adheres to a policy of repairing potholes within 24 hours of notification to mitigate potential hazards. 3244213.jpg

The works minister, Datuk Seri Alexander Nanta Linggi, previously warned all road maintenance concessionaires to fulfill their obligations after two teenagers were killed in a motorcycle accident caused by a pothole on March 21st.

The minister emphasized that according to JKR's asset maintenance policy, federal road concessionaires must temporarily patch road damage within 24 hours and complete permanent repairs within three days. potholes1410_1728921609.jpg
