Subsequent to the successful launch of the SU7, Xiaomi intends to debut its second electric vehicle, the YU7 SUV, to the Chinese market during June or July of this year. This highly-anticipated EV SUV is positioned to compete with the Tesla Model Y and the Xpeng G7.

Recent reports from Car News China indicate that an additional version will be offered alongside the initially announced 820km range variant. This time, the new iteration of the electric SUV features a single motor powertrain and boasts an extended range of 835 km.

That's 65km more than the previous YU7 range champion and 115km more than the longest-range version of the Tesla Model Y.
The Xiaomi YU7's newly revealed version boasts a robust single electric motor generating 235 kW. Despite weighing 2,315 kg, this EV demonstrates notable energy efficiency, consuming just 13.3 kWh per 100 km.

Retaining Xiaomi's familiar design, the YU7's exterior remains largely unchanged, featuring a closed grille, "water drop headlights," and X-shaped daytime running lights. Notably, the upper portion of the headlights incorporates a hollowed-out design intended to improve airflow around the vehicle.

With a wheelbase of 3,000mm and dimensions of 4,999×1,996×1,600mm, the YU7 clearly establishes itself as a mid-size SUV. Its larger size, particularly in cabin space, caters to the preferences of Chinese consumers who value spacious interiors, making it noticeably bigger than the Tesla Model Y.

As the June-July launch draws near, the YU7's vehicle testing and production capacity are now in their final push. Notably, Xiaomi shipped over 140,000 SU7 vehicles in 2024 and aims to double this figure in 2025. Given the hype surrounding the YU7, the EV startup is highly likely to reach this ambitious target.
