BMW has silently updated the i4 lineup for summer 2025, featuring a new top-spec M60 xDrive variant with 593 HP.

Right after producing its three-millionth electrified car, BMW has silently updated the i4 lineup for summer this year, where the sporty electric gran coupe gets a new top-spec variant, the BMW i4 M60 xDrive. The new M60 replaces the i4 M50, which was BMW M’s first-ever EV, where it gets a significant power boost to now deliver 593 HP and 795 Nm, thus making it one of BMW’s most potent EVs to date.

The new i4 M60 is 0.2 seconds quicker than the M50 in a 0-100 km/h sprint, while still 0.3 seconds short from the manic BMW M4 CS.

The new i4 M60 uses an uprated version of the i4 M50’s dual-motor all-wheel drive (AWD) powertrain setup, which originally produced 537 HP. This translates to a quicker century sprint finish of 3.7 seconds compared to 3.9 seconds on the M50. At the same time, this also brings the i4 M60 closer to its more manic, fuel-guzzling cousin, the BMW M4 CS, which clocked in at 3.4 seconds.

Feeding the 593 HP-rated motors is the same 81.1-kWh battery pack used on the M50, although BMW claims the efficiency has been improved to allow the i4 M60 an improved WLTP range of 433 km, which is quite impressive for a dual-motor performance EV’s standard.

In terms of visuals, the new i4 M60 looks more or less the same as its predecessor, featuring some extra M-specific parts to differentiate it from the regular i4, which was recently given a Life Cycle Impulse (BMW’s lingo for facelift) late last year. Naturally, the only notable difference here lies at the rear, where it gets a new M60 badge, so you best be checking them first before deciding to overtake one.

Updated 2025 BMW i4 eDrive40

The new i4 M60 xDrive introduction is part of BMW’s summer 2025 rolling updates on the entire i4 gran coupe lineup, where all variants get new silicon-carbide inverters that the automaker claims can cut energy consumption by 4.5%. As a result, the WLTP range for the updated i4 eDrive35 and eDrive40 has been improved to 428 km and 510 km, respectively.

Other models included in this summer 2025 update are the new 1-Series and 2-Series Gran Coupe, which get new heated front seats and an alarm, while the 7-Series lineup gains laminated safety glass. Not to forget, both the X5M Competition and its X6 twin gain a new Ultimate package, which adds several carbon fibre bits and lifts up its V-max limiter to 290 km/h.

In native Germany, the all-new 2025 BMW i4 M60 xDrive retails at €72,900 (RM348,928), with its production set to begin later in July this year. Closer to home, BMW Malaysia recently launched the facelifted BMW i4 in a single eDrive35 M Sport guise here, so it may take a while before we get to see the new M60 arrive here.
