Permit Of Bus Operator In Gerik Crash Revoked - Loke
Following the fatal crash on Monday that claimed the lives of 15 students from Universiti Pendidikan Sultan Idris (UPSI), the bus company involved has had its operating license revoked with immediate effect.
Transport Minister Anthony Loke also disclosed that the Kedah-based company was operating illegally by leasing its permit to a third party in Kelantan for a monthly fee of RM500.
“The leasing agreement violated the permit conditions.I have instructed the Land Public Transport Agency to revoke the company’s permit immediately upon expiry of the show-cause letter period,” he says, adding that initial findings indicated the bus operator did not activate the GPS, leading to immediate, non-appealable operating license revocation. -full_normal.jpg)
Regarding the bus driver's assertion of brake failure as the crash's cause, a thorough forensic investigation is slated to take place, according to Loke.
A chartered bus transporting students from Universiti Pendidikan Sultan Idris (UPSI) from Jertih to the main campus in Tanjung Malim was involved in a fatal crash on Monday.
The bus collided with a multi-purpose vehicle (MPV) along the East-West Highway, resulting in the tragic death of 15 individuals.
