4-Vehicle Pile-Up On Besraya Partly Caused By Deployed Airbag
Earlier this week, a 32-sec dashcam footage went viral after it was uploaded to social media. Said footage showed a dramatic multi-vehicle pile-up that occurred on the Seri Kembangan/Mines-bound stretch of the Besraya highway.
We can now confirm the incident occurred on Monday afternoon at around 4:15PM, reports local daily NST.
From the dashcam footage embedded above, we can see a white Toyota Mark X driven by a 33-year-old man started a chain reaction of collisions. Said sedan had first lost control and hit the central divider before rear-ending into a Perodua Myvi in the middle lane.
The reason for the initial loss of control wasn’t stipulated, though NST reports the Mark X driver was using a navigation app whilst travelling on the right lane.
The latter impact into the hatchback then caused the airbags in the Mark X to deploy, which in turn obstructed both its driver’s vision and control, causing it to veer into the left lane and collide into a motorcycle and Honda BR-V.
The incident involved four vehicles in total - the white Toyota Mark X, black Perodua Myvi, a Honda BR-V, and a motorcycle.

Thrown off the motorcycle mentioned were both its rider and pillion, both aged 32. Both men were rushed to Hospital Serdang and are now reportedly in stable condition after receiving treatment for injuries in the hospital’s Yellow Zone.
Kuala Lumpur Traffic Enforcement and Investigation Department chief, Assistant Commissioner Mohd Zamzuri Mohd Isa told NST that the incident is being investigated under Section 43(1) of the Road Transport Act 1987.
Zamzuri added that the Mark X driver has been subjected to both urine and alcohol screening, with both yielding negative results.
The injuries sustained by the Mark X driver, as well as the drivers and occupants of the Myvi and BR-V it collided with are unclear, but it appears certain there are no deaths reported.
