Chery Tiggo Cross CKD Rolls Off Inokom Kulim’s Production Line

The new Chery Tiggo Cross has begun rolling off the production line at Inokom's assembly facility in Kulim, Kedah.
Weeks after making its official Malaysian debut, the all-new Chery Tiggo Cross has begun rolling off the production line at Sime Motors’ Inokom assembly facility in Kulim, Kedah. Both the CSH Hybrid and Turbo variants of the Tiggo Cross are locally assembled here at Inokom Kulim, making it the first Chery hybrid model to be assembled here.

“We are proud to assemble the Tiggo Cross right here in Malaysia, leveraging local capabilities and strategic partnerships that ensure we deliver global quality with local relevance.” said Michael Chew, Vice President of Chery Malaysia.
“Assembling the Tiggo Cross in Malaysia underscores Chery’s deep commitment to the local market while enhancing our capacity to offer more competitive, accessible vehicles. It reflects our broader localisation strategy and long-term vision for sustainable growth within Malaysia’s automotive landscape,” adds Chew.
Meanwhile, Sui Keng Huat, Managing Director of Inokom Corporation Sdn Bhd, said, “We sincerely thank Chery for their continued trust in Inokom as a valued partner. The introduction of this new model is a testament to our strong collaboration and aligned ambitions.”

Chery Tiggo Cross 1.5 CSH Hybrid
As mentioned earlier, the new Tiggo Cross is available in two variants in Malaysia, namely the 1.5 CSH Hybrid and the 1.5 Turbo. The former uses one of Chery’s Super Hybrid (CSH) powertrain setups, featuring a 1.5-litre parallel-hybrid (HEV) system that boasts up to 1,000 km of travel range from a single full tank of fuel.

Chery Tiggo Cross 1.5 Turbo
On the other hand, the Turbo variant serves as the entry-level model for the Tiggo Cross in Malaysia, featuring a 1.5-litre 4-cyl turbocharged petrol engine that hooks up to a six-speed DCT automatic gearbox to deliver 145 HP and 210 NM to the front wheels (FWD). This setup is good enough for a 0-100 km/h sprint finish of 9.9 seconds.

Retailing from RM88,800, the all-new Chery Tiggo Cross 1.5 Turbo comes in Carbon Black, Phantom Grey, Khaki White, and Blood Stone Red, while the 1.5 CSH Hybrid, priced at RM99,800, is offered in Carbon Black, Phantom Grey, Khaki White, and Moonlight Silver.

As one of Chery’s flagship global models, the Tiggo Cross has played a pivotal role in strengthening the brand’s international presence and building global trust. This is evident in the recent milestone achieved by Chery, where the Wuhu-based automaker celebrated the export of one million Tiggo Cross units from Dalian Port, China, thus showcasing the model’s stellar success and positive reception in overseas markets.
On that note, the Tiggo Cross has also received positive reception among Malaysians within weeks after its launch, where the compact SUV crossover has ei>garnered over 1,000 bookings since then.
