Compliance Or Suspension, Loke Warns Maxim & InDrive
The Ministry of Transport has issued a final warning to e-hailing platforms Maxim and InDrive, urging both companies to fully comply with regulations or risk having their licences suspended or revoked.
Transport Minister Anthony Loke said both operators are currently under a three-month observation period after repeated violations, particularly for failing to meet key requirements such as the E-Hailing Vehicle Permit.
The probation started on 24 July, following an enforcement notice issued by the Land Public Transport Agency earlier this year. -full_normal.jpg)
“Operators have the right to appeal when enforcement action is taken, and both companies submitted theirs. We’ve outlined the corrective actions needed, and we can see that they’ve started making improvements,” Loke stated.
The main offence, he explained, involved allowing drivers to operate without valid permits, a serious regulatory breach. Still, the government decided against an immediate shutdown to avoid disrupting the lives of users and drivers who depend on the service daily.
“This is their first offence. We’re giving them a chance to fix things. But if they continue to ignore the rules, their licences will be suspended or cancelled,” stressed Loke.

The enforcement process began on 24 April, when the Land Public Transport Agency issued a formal revocation notice to both operators after finding widespread non-compliance.
Under standard procedure, the revocation would have taken effect three months later, but both Maxim and InDrive submitted appeals, which were accepted by the ministry.
With the grace period now underway, the ministry expects both companies to prove they are fully compliant by the end of the observation window. The minister stressed that no further extensions will be granted.

Meanwhile, Maxim recently released a statement rejecting claims made by a p-hailing group, calling the allegations about expired permits and illegal operations false.
The company said all its drivers are operating legally and in full compliance with transport ministry regulations.
