JPJ Product Recall Notice – Kia, Mercedes-Benz Models Affected
JPJ has issued a product recall notice, affecting several Kia and Mercedes-Benz models.
The Road Transport Department (JPJ) has issued a new product recall notice, affecting 8,322 units spread across three brands. Among the brands affected are Kia, Mercedes-Benz, and one motorcycle brand, Yamaha.
For Kia, the only affected model from this recall notice is the third-gen (UB) Kia Rio manufactured from 2010 to 2017, covering a total of 5,123 units. These units are reported to possess a risk of an electronic short circuit, which could cause a fire within the circuit board of the hydraulic electronic control unit (HECU).
Owners of these affected Kia Rio units are advised to contact Kia Malaysia (Dinamikjaya Motors) immediately via their dedicated recall webpage or directly at 03-7627 3222 and customersupport@kiamalaysia.com.my.
As for Mercedes-Benz, the recall is for several models from 2023 to 2025. The affected models are the S580 e, GLC 300 4Matic, EQS 500, and AMG SL 43, where their pre-fuse box reportedly might not have been reworked correctly. Meanwhile, models like the AMG EQE 53, AMG EQS 53, and the S580 e are advised to have their pre-fuse box replaced if necessary.
Affected Mercedes-Benz owners can immediately contact Mercedes-Benz Malaysia (MBM) via their official website or directly at 1-800-88-1133 and cs.mys@cac.mercedes-benz.com.
Last but not least, a total of three Yamaha motorcycle models are affected by this recall notice, namely the MT09 and Tracer 9 GT from Nov 2021 to Feb 2025, for suspected faulty throttle position sensor (TPS) and the Tenere 700 from 2023 to 2024 for clutch operation issues.
Affected owners can contact Hong Leong Yamaha Motor via their official website or directly at 03-6148 6310 and servicedept@yamaha-motor.com.my for immediate action.
