Sales and production figures recorded by MAA throughout June 2025 sees figures shrinking across several fronts.

When contrasted with last year’s performance, June 2025’s passenger vehicles sales have shrunk by 5% YoY, as did YTD sales total, which shrank by 3%. Additionally, June 2025’s passenger vehicles YTD production total also saw a 10% YoY reduction.

Whilst on passenger vehicles production still, June 2025’s 49,075 units total did mark a 5% YoY increase from June 2024’s 46,920 units recorded. However, June 2025’s production total still stood lower from May 2025’s total of 62,291 units recorded.

Overall, combined passenger vehicles and commercial vehicles sales MAA recorded in June 2025 stood at 54,832 units. Combined passenger and commercial vehicles production total, on the other hand, stood at 52,067 units.

As a result, Total Industry Volume (TIV) for June 2025 dropped significantly by 21% from 69,442 units charted in May 2025. MAA attributes the lowered TIV to both June 2025’s shorter working month (19 days), and week-long production pause for Hari Raya Aidiladha.

Despite the drop in figures across the board, MAA continues to be optimistic as it looks ahead to July 2025, which is expected to yield higher figures versus June 2025 thanks to its status as a full working month (23 days).

MAA noted strong growth in xEV sales recorded throughout 1H 2025, totalling at 30,573 units.

Additionally, MAA says it’s maintaining its forecast for the TIV 2025 at 780,000 units based on a resilient domestic economy, Bank Negara’s decision to lower OPR by 25 basis points to 2.75%, as well as growth of xEVs (electrified vehicles), amongst many.

Regarding xEVs, the association detailed that sales for which in the first half of 2025 (1H 2025) reached a total of 30,573 units, marking a 35.6% growth over the 22,542 units recorded last year.
