Subaru Uncharted EV Debuts as CH-R’s Off-Road-Ready Twin

Subaru’s new Uncharted EV is essentially a more rugged, off-road-focused version of the Toyota CH-R EV crossover.
Subaru has expanded its EV lineup in the US by unveiling a new all-electric crossover, the Subaru Uncharted. Videogame-inspired name aside, the Uncharted EV is essentially a more rugged, off-road-focused version of the new Toyota C-HR+ EV crossover, while being positioned as a smaller alternative to the Solterra EV SUV.
For starters, the Uncharted EV underpins the same Toyota e-TNGA platform as the C-HR+ EV, featuring a 74-kWh lithium-ion battery for all variants. Speaking of which, three powertrain variants of the Uncharted EV will be available in the US, namely one entry-level single-motor FWD variant that is also Subaru’s first front-wheel drive (FWD) model in decades, plus two dual-motor all-wheel drive (AWD) options.

The single-motor FWD model gets a 221 hp-rated motor setup, which Subaru claims is good for over 490 km of EV range. Meanwhile, the two AWD models pack the same dual-motor setup that delivers 338 hp, while their maximum EV range has been discounted to 467 km.
With a decent 0-96 km/h (0-60 mph) sprint time of 5.0 seconds flat, Subaru also claims the Uncharted AWD boasts an “impressive straight-line stability, handling, and grip on loose surfaces such as gravel, dirt, or snow,” thanks to Subie’s proprietary Symmetrical All-Wheel Drive system both models come with.

Charging-wise, all variants of the Uncharted EV will come standard with Tesla’s NACS port in the US, while supporting DCFC at up to 150 kW that sees its battery being charged from 10 to 80% in just 30 minutes. There’s also an 11 kW onboard AC charger, plus a battery preconditioning system to prolong the battery pack life further.

On the design front, the two AWD models get a more rugged design, while the baseline FWD model looks more subdued. Besides the extensive plastic underbody claddings and low-profile roof rails, buyers can also opt for the Uncharted with a range of wheel options, with sizes varying from 18 inches to 20 inches.

The similarities between the Uncharted and the C-HR+ are more prominent as we get inside the cabin, as the rugged EV gets the same front dash setup as its sleeker twin. Key equipment highlights include the 14-inch central infotainment screen, a floating digital metre cluster, a new floating central console with two wireless chargers and a gear selector, water-repellent seat upholstery, and many more.
Those who opted for the top-spec GT variant will get additional equipment like a panoramic moonroof, ventilated front seats, a smart rearview mirror, and a Harman Kardon audio system.

As of now, the all-new Subaru Uncharted EV is only confirmed for the North American market, with sales set to commence in the US sometime in early 2026. No pricing details were shared for now, but expect them to be around the same region as its US-spec ICE-powered sibling, the Subaru Crosstrek—also known as the XV in Malaysia.
