Acura RSX Prototype EV Unveiled Ahead of 2026 Debut

The all-new Acura RSX Prototype previews a sporty electric coupe SUV set to debut in the second half of 2026.
In case you missed it, Acura is reviving the RSX nameplate for its new all-electric coupe crossover. Following several teasers and rumours, Honda’s premium marque has finally revealed the prototype version of the new Acura RSX EV, and no surprise, it doesn’t look like the RSX most of us are familiar with.
From the design, we can see that the new RSX ditches its predecessor’s DC5 Integra-based liftback coupe design for a more popular coupe SUV crossover bodystyle—something that was already shown on last year’s Acura Performance EV Concept.

While the prototype keeps the coupe-SUV silhouette of the earlier concept, it gains some minor design tweaks to make it more realistic and production-feasible. For starters, the bumpers and lighting elements have been updated, while the whole SUV now rides on smaller 21-inch wheels instead of the massive 23-inch units in the concept.
Some key design highlights include split LED headlights with sharp DRLs, a grille-less front face with centre air intake, prominent vents on the front doors, sculpted shoulders for a more muscular look, a fastback-style rear end with full-width taillights, and an integrated ducktail spoiler.
The interior, however, remains under wraps for now, so your guesses are just as good as ours at this point. That said, Acura did confirm that the new RSX will feature Honda’s new Asimo Operating System, where the software is designed to learn from the driver’s habits and preferences, adapting the in-car experience to suit their needs.

What’s more interesting about the new RSX is that it will be the first model to underpin Honda’s in-house global EV architecture, ditching the GM-based platform used on current Acura EVs. We’ve been told that it will feature a dual-motor setup with all-wheel drive (AWD), with Acura promising a responsive, engaging driving experience.
To help the RSX achieve this, Acura engineers have given the EV SUV a sporty tuning for its suspension system, which in itself features a front double-wishbone setup and a lower centre of gravity. Stopping power will be provided by Brembo, while a host of active safety features will all be primed here too.

The all-new Acura RSX will be making its public debut in the US, particularly at The Quail on Aug 15, followed by its appearance at this year’s Pebble Beach Concours d’Elegance later on Aug 17. The production version of this EV SUV is expected to debut in the second half of 2026, with its production set to take place at the Honda EV Hub in Ohio.
